  1. Yep, we had one of those. A small lump on Shadow's head (at first I thought it was a tick and tried to remove it with a tick spoon - oops!!!). We kept an eye on it for about 3 months until his dental in December. At that point the vet took it off since Shadow was already put under. Sure enough, it was nothing.
  2. Just keep trucking along Willie. You'll be running in no time
  3. I agree with the above posters that it may not be anything at all. Of course, if you're concerned, it doesn't hurt to check in with the vet. I have two greys. Tori's nose never drips at all. Shadow's, on the other hand, is a veritable fountain at times If he's excited or nervous it's especially bad, but sometimes it'll drip even when he's sleeping. We've had some nice puddles under his head come morning
  4. Doh! I totally missed the context of this at first and was trying to figure out why you were shoving berries into your dog's armpits! OK, that totally made me fall out of my chair! The visual!
  5. Oh she is a doll. And I bet she's so soft to pet! Shadow has plenty of hair everywhere else, but his belly and chest have almost no hair. I love to pet him there!
  6. I can't imagine how relieved you must be, and how much better Clark must be feeling. I'm so happy that you found a simple (and relatively inexpensive!) fix for your boy.
  7. Those photos brought bittersweet tears to my eyes. It's obvious how much they loved each other, and how much you love them. I'm glad that they are together at the bridge, and one day you will be reunited with them as well.

I'm so sorry that another one of your furries has left you for the bridge. Too much sadness. I'll be thinking of you and yours.
  9. I'm so sorry that you had to let go of Doonarie. She sounds like she had quite a personality! May your smiles shine through your tears as you remember her. Run free, sweety...
  10. Carolyn, I'm so sorry you have to say goodbye to Spiff. You're right - whatever we do, it never feels like enough, does it? I'm sure it did to him, though. Warm hugs for you...
  11. Well, after a small meal of boiled chicken breast and rice last night, both pups slept through the night. We went for a walk this morning and, although there wasn't much "output", what there was, was solid So, another couple bland meals and I'll start mixing their kibble back in. I'm glad that they're feeling better
  12. I'm almost positive it was Shadow - except for the eating poop and puking it back up, that's definitely Tori! They ate turkey necks yesterday for the first time in a long while and I'm sure that's the culprit. They almost always do fine, but every once in a great while one will upset Shadow's tummy. I thought we were safe since I fed them yesterday afternoon with no ill effects overnight or this morning. Apparently I was wrong I know that a couple of bland meals and all will be back to normal (except, perhaps, for the smell of my house )
  13. Oof! Came home from work to the stench of poop! Poor Shadow (I think) had the big D. 5 piles in three different rooms, poor guy. Luckily, Tori was there to help, and had eaten one of the piles when I got home. Bad news was that she then puked that up in the hallway. Add 2 more piles So instead of coming home to a leisurely dinner and to finish the book I'm reading, I cleaned (and cleaned some more!) for an hour and a half, then went to the grocery store so I can boil up chicken and rice for 2 upset tummies. No advice needed, just folks who have "been there, done that"
  14. I'll be thinking of you and Gumby today. May you both sleep well and feel better when you wake
  15. I'm sharing my tears with yours this morning. I'm so sorry to hear that you had to let Mac go. I always looked forward to his responses on all the threads here on GT. Run free, Mac...
  16. Since you don't know which came first, the licking or the rash, the first thing would be to get her to stop licking. Once she hasn't licked it for a couple of days you'll have a better idea whether it's really a rash, or just was irritated from too much licking. Once you know the answer to that question you'll know what your next step should be
  17. When Tori goes overboard licking (which doesn't take much ) I've found that wearing a t-shirt for a couple of days will break her attention away from whatever the owie du jour might be. Boys' size Large shirts work great for her (she's 58 lbs. but pretty wide in the chest). The sleeves fit perfectly, then I just gather the extra on the top of her back with a rubber band. She's wearing one now because she licked her IV site (from a recent dental) raw. Good luck!
  18. I would suggest either a long sleeve t-shirt with vet wrap at the very bottom so your pup can't pull it up. Or, order a stool guard for the muzzle - they can't lick through those, but can still drink just fine. I know how frustrated you are - we went through it for several months after Shadow had surgery. The muzzle and stool guard were the only thing he couldn't work his way around. Best of luck
  19. I don't have experience with corns, but have *lots* of experience in second guessing my choices when it comes to my pups. In February Shadow had surgery to remove a tumor on his knee. They ended up having to take out so much tissue and it took until September (!) to heal. Turns out the kind of tumor he has is very slow growing and doesn't metasticize, although they didn't know that until they did the cytology after the surgery - the needle aspirate we did first was inconclusive. Even my vet said if he had known what the tumor was and how much trouble Shadow would have he wouldn't have done the surgery - but we both did what we thought was best. Shadow is now completely healed and the tumor hasn't come back. He never held it against me, even when he was stuck wearing a muzzle 20 hours a day for over a month! Fingers crossed that the surgery works, but just know that we know (and your pup knows I'm sure) that you're doing what you think is best.
  20. Prozac isn't the only anti-anxiety med out there. Shadow had a problem not leaving a surgery site alone and we put him on Clomicalm (clomiprimine). For 8 months we kept him in sweatpants (it was on his knee, so wouldn't stay bandaged), or him in a muzzle with stool guard or watched him at all times or else he would open the wound back up within 5 minutes. I know the frustration the owner is feeling. There were a few times that we thought we had it healed and Shadow would lick it right back open - it made me cry! Then we started on the Clomicalm. It took about 4 weeks for it to fully kick in but it has worked perfectly! Definitely have the owner contact another vet - sometimes a fresh pair of eyes will come up with fresh ideas. There has to be just tons of options to consider before putting the dog down!
  21. Shadow has always been pretty svelte, but as he gets older it's definitely harder for me to keep weight on him. I also have a hard time feeding him extra. He seems to know exactly how much he should have in his bowl, and will leave however much extra I try to give him It seems his figure is very important to him
  22. Greensleeves and Rooroo, what size Comfy Collar did you buy? My poor Shadow has been in a muzzle off and on for months trying to get him to leave his knee alone (surgery to remove a tumor). We've tried everything else except the Comfy Collar. If it works, I'd love for him to wear that instead. Thanks!
  23. I'm so sorry that you and Billy are still going through this. I'm hoping for the best possible outcome for the ultrasound.
