Mine can do 9 hours. I hate it, but they can do it.
I come home for lunch daily, but if I go away hubby is alone with them and can't do a trip home for lunch. When my father had bypass surgery, they had to do it for a month and were just fine.
Most days, they don't bother getting up when I come home at noon, especially during the winter. When it's nice out, Brees mostly wants to go out to chase squirrels. Lunchtime is more for me than for them.
Sounds like the coat might be the trigger with the walker. Leave a light coat on her during the day and try again?

How long are you actually out of the house during the day? Many dogs of working parents manage to hold it all day. Not saying it's best, but it can be done.
Also, what about walking with her and the dog walkers for a bit, and having them give her super-yummy-extra-good treats first? Or have them just hang out in the house with all of you a few times?

Joe gets them. Symptoms sound right. Doesn't always show in the sample, though. With Joe, I just default to antibiotics if all else looks good to the vet.

DH and I have a similar arrangement with Joe. I go to bed, and Joe comes with. DH comes upstairs, and Joe gets down. We only have issues if DH follows behind me too soon, or we go to bed at the same time. Joe expects at least an hour in the people bed and can be stubborn about getting off if he doesn't get it.
Brees gets on the bed in the morning and is impossible to move. 65 pounds of crazy glue stuck to the comforter. We've had to pull the blankets off to get her down -- but mostly I don't bother. She tends to sleep ON hubby and doesn't bother me at all.
No sleep startle with either dog though, and amazing self control from both of them. I've stepped on Joe (hard) and just gotten a "snark and lunge". Same reaction when they step on each other. Never teeth. I have total confidence that I could roll over on them or kick them in face while sleeping and be ok.
What do you mean by "half-biting "? Is it just noise or does he make contact?

Excellent.

Oh, God. I'm so sorry. This sucks.

Best Mommy ever, but I have created a monster.
At 14, he can be a monster all he wants! (Bet Miss Carolina is pissed!!)

The above urine results are concerning regarding the proteinuria. +3 protein combined with a specific gravity of 1.020 (moderately dilute) should be followed up on. A urine protein creatinine ratio should be run.
Thank you! Bumping to make sure Candice sees your response. Jakey still feels good.

Stuff like how to handle statuing and breed snobbery.
-
Well, Brees already approved them...

Mary Pat they were taste testing them for you. They just wanted to make sure it was safe for you.
Yup! Wouldn't want Aunty M to keel over from bad candy!

OK, this is a lot funnier now!
Ha, ha! Merry Christmas MP!

Candice is going to try to get the test results today, and I'll help her get them posted. The thing with Jake is he does *not* know he is ill. He's a nutball. Does the 2 mile Sunday houndwalk happily, and hates when his Mommy stops to rest him and his 12-year-old sister. His zoomies in the yard scare the beejeezus out of me.

Congratulations and welcome!

Well, hell. I was out all afternoon and just saw the updates. Jen, I'm sorry this crazyness is happening to your girl.

Good thoughts sent, and all the cross-ables are crossed.

More importantly, any suggestions for suppressing the nausea I feel every time I think about this?
Xanax. Everyone should have a few around the house for times like this.

Some dogs on here use bricks for pillows.
And where are Face and Taylor?

Folks, folks. This is serious!! Mason's Mommy, it is IMPERATIVE that you do the following:
1. Slap a bag of frozen peas on his head.
2. Take a picture.
3. Post it right away!
(I make no claim to medical knowledge or common sense. Hope your baby is ok!)

How's she doing?

I can reach into either dog's throat and pull out any nasty thing they're trying to scarf down.* It takes time and work, trading up for higher value treats like Brandiandwe says above. You're reacting very sanely, by the way. Some folks flip out the first time the dog growls at them.
*Does not apply to live animals, or (probably) recently dead ones!

Oooooooo! She's a pretty one!

Huh. I think it's cool. I'd rather a leech than a bunch of drugs.
