  1. anyone know if there is any coursing in Southern California
  2. looking forward to 2010 with Queen

  3. well Queen has been with us for a month and she does "come" and "down" real well. as for heel, we have not done that a lot yet as I cannot see her well and am afraid I will hit her with my wheelchair. As for going out, as soon as I transfer from my manual wheelie chair to my outside power chair she is ready to go, and stands to my left and behind so we can get her collar/leash on and open the door. Funny thing, she won't go in front of me out the door, but when we are in the driveway she is willing to walk in front. she will trot next to me when I am "at speed" and an arms length away and positions herself to my left with extra room when I open the gate for our afternoon and evening back yard time, and WILL walk in front of me into the backyard and stay far enough away so I can spin in place, shut the gate and let her loose. Remember "sit" as a command for greys is not all that easy for them, and down may work better.{some do sit, and some will sit if they have a soft spot,Queen will sit on her bed because she is cushioned...
  4. well Queen sleeps with me all night, then my DW takes her out at 6:30AM and she then sleeps with me until about 8AM and gets down and lays on the floor by the door waiting until I get up at 9ish. we have breakfast and she goes back to sleep until I get into my outside chair THEN she is up and ready to go, we spend about an hour in the back yard {noon ish } and back to nap time until about 5PM out for a short romp and dinner followed by naping until about 8-8:30 ish and off to bed to start the whole process again.
  5. sounds like that dog has 2 strikes, I would not want to give it 3. the next time it could be a small child that it attacks. I agree that you should contact animal control
  6. our schedule is 6:30AM first potty pee/poo 9:30AM feeding noonish 1 hour in the yard weather permitting usually pee/poo 4-5PM out and about for a pee sometimes poo 5:00PM food. 8:00PM out for pee/poo sometimes a little later bedtime around 8:30PM we sleep until the next morning we have had 2 failures, both missing the 5PM outing before dinner.
  7. I feel your PAIN I waited a week after we chose our girl, we waited for a second cat test, she passed with flying colors {she ignored them} and took her home that day. as the others said, you should be looking for a kidlet and cat friendly Grey. I was lucky as my wife demanded a female and I wanted a brindle we both said cat friendly. they probably had a couple others, but Queen stole my heart, and walked so well with my wheelchair that she had a home. she is my velcro dog but the whole family loves her and she returns it in spades. remember when you pick up your grey, have a camera ready because when you say you have a dog THAT is going to be thrown at you from all directions
  8. those pictures of Mix at speed in tuck are showing one HAPPY pup. as the others said, Hi, welcome and more pictures
  9. from the other coast Love my Beautiful red Dobie waiting for us, she was low maintenance. you know, let her out during the day, crate at night, feed some kibble and the occasional trespasser and all is right with the world But now with my Queen I will be with the breed until we all meet at the bridge please post pictures of the whole crowd
  10. In the late 60s I worked on a ranch and one of the other ranch hands had a baby great dane that was having a hard time gaining weight. his vet told him to add a stick of butter to each bowl of kibble He started gaining weight. when he was full grown and hiked his leg he hit the top of a semi truck tire kinda fun watching him run with our horses
  11. mine is not there, it is a new one....
  12. Queen gets 2 or 3 shots in the back yard daily for her "necessaries" and she walks, and trots around for 15-20 minutes min. some days at least an hour. as for walking....well since I am in a powerchair I don't walk I have started working on her walking with me. MY command is WHEEL instead of heel because...well kinda makes since, correct? My biggest concern is when she walks in front of me and crosses back and forth or starts getting too close to the wheels I am afraid I will run over her. I also have a habit of spinning in place to get her to the side of the chair I want {usually left} and she walks behind me in and out of the house
  13. nah, we are staying with Queen, I am just playing with it. she actually comes to her name and it is growing on me so....
