  1. Thanks for the reminder! I meant to look at this when it was posted before.

Unfortunately, they are 7 to 10 dollars a bag higher than I'm paying for TOTW locally, depending on which supplier I use. I would love nothing more than to have it delivered, but they aren't competitive on that one.

This is great for those who have to drive 40 or 50 miles to get a specific brand though - the cost probably evens out when you factor in fuel and time.

  2. Here is a link to the type of wrap mentioned above so you can see what it looks like. Wound Wrap. This is what it will be called at a drug store.

At a farm supply or pet store it will be called Vet Wrap and is about 1/3 of the price. At a Farm Supply it is usually with the medications and/or Horse / Cattle items.

Whichever you use, be sure to place a sterile dressing of some sort on the wound before wrapping it.

  3. I just did a search for "Pet Taxi Service" in Wilmington and came up with a service called K-9 Fred.

Based on a quick glance of the webpage it looks like they could be an option to help with transporting Tuna. I do not know them or anything about them, but it's another option that is in your area. Phone numbers are:

    Contact Info:

    302-757-3832 302-290-6644

Sorry you and Tuna are going through this.

  4. If I let Rocket dictate the walk, it would always be the route under all of the shade trees.lol.gif

The only problem with that route is that there are less places for him to take care of business because everyone on that route has very nice lawns and flower beds (we are compulsive about picking it up, but if I put that kind of care into my own lawn I'd be out there chasing dogs awaylol.gif ).

Every so often, and especially on killer hot days, he won't take no for an answer and takes the shady route.

Good girl Neyla - since mom is letting you call the shots, I would ask for ice cream. lol.gif

  5. I would ask the neighbor to give you a heads up when they are going to do this (assuming that you get along ok). Explaining that you have a new Greyhound who has never seen or heard noises like this might help to reduce the activity in the immediate area next door. You can't eliminate it altogether, but you can at least make them aware of the issue.

Our boy Rocket didn't like the noises on his first holiday here, but now he could care less. We don't react to it, so neither does he. A neighbor of our shoots them off about 40 feet out our back lawn as the properties adjoin at the pond. Shooting them over the pond seems to be a favorite activity in this neighborhood.

  6. We are having a similar issue with Rocket. He will lay on the floor, or on his bed and give you the "pet me" paw signal or roll over to have his belly rubbed. I think he just has some leftover space agression that he doesn't know how to get rid of. He wants to be petted or play, but his natural reaction is to snarl because you are too close. I have the teeth marks in my hand to prove it. I also think that he sometimes falls asleep while being petted and is then startled, much like what happened with you and Junebug.

We have started enforcing some boundaries for him, and have gone back to "nothing in life is free." We know that he is more prone to this in the morning and evening which are his "napping" times. We avoid that type of play or petting during those times unless he comes to us and is standing, not laying down.

He is our best buddy and right by our side 99.9% of the time. We just need to make sure that we are both in tune to whether or not he is really wanting to play until this behavior stops. He has been here a year and a half, and I really think he will eventually be a snuggler based on the changes we've seen, but that day is still far away.

  7. They get bored. Give your pup a new toy or 2 over the next couple of weeks. Each time you introduce a new toy, put one of the others away where it can't be seen or found. Rotate toys every few weeks to keep it interesting. We have a full toy box, and a hidden stash of toys that are re-circulated through the box from time to time.

Every time we get an old toy out that has been missing for a while, it's like getting a brand new toy all over again.

  8. We've been through this several times with Rocket. New grass chutes in the spring are like his Salad Bar. As soon as the grass is a month or so old, he is no longer interested.

The tummy rumbles actually wake us up in the middle of the night. Depending on how they sound we use a couple of options.

High pitched sounds like gas - 1 Gas-X tablet and a piece or 2 of bread.

Loud Rumbling - Just bread if he's sleeping through the rumbles and doesn't appear to be in any distress, or 1 Pepcid tablet and some Bread if he's up pacing with the rumbles.

Sometimes we just do one or the other depending on the time of day / night, how long ago he had something to eat etc. , but the majority of times it is middle of the night when this happens. Usually after we give him one of the above, he goes back to bed and sleeps just fine.
