  1. I want to first say thank you to all who sent notes of well wishes for Nadir over Thanksgiving and to those who are asking about him again. I wasn't able to respond earlier but please know that each thought and well wish is cherished.

We are now getting close to 2 weeks into his treatment with Clindamycin. I believe he does a 8-12 week course for the full treatment. He has to do a 4 week course then retest again. If things look as they should on the test then we continue with the rest of the treatment. Although he is still having problems with his back and walking I am seeing subtle improvements in this and his overall demeanor is greatly improving. Monday night he showed me a bit of his playful side and spent a few minutes tossing around his favorite buffalo stuffie in the house. He gets excited about going outside now too and eagerly walks around the yard inspecting every inch of our fence for any new pee-mail that might have been left since his last inspection.

  2. Oh Claudia, I just read this topic the first time this morning and it just makes me sick with worry for Misty. I've read through the posts and see that Misty did eat this morning but I will still be joining in the chanting and sending of healing thoughts to Misty for continued eating...

    :hope:candle:hope:candle

...and a big hug to you :grouphug

  4. Here's one for you:

When I lived at home my family had a Great Dane named Buffy. One night Buffy woke my mother up in the middle of the night because she wanted to go outside. My mother was sick with the flu at the time and because it was also really cold outside and she knew that if she let Buffy out she'd have a hard time getting her back in, she decided to just ignore her. That turned out to be a really, really big mistake, because the next thing my mother knew was that Buffy's butt pretty much went off like an water cannon spraying crap everywhere. To make things worse Buffy got startled when it happened and started running around the room managing to cover everything in the room a fine spray of crap to a height of at least 5 ft. So now instead of just getting up to let the dog out she had to strip and wash the bedding, curtains, walls, and pretty much every inch of that room. That happened over 30 years ago but we all still laugh about it.

  5. can you feel them? :airmail:grouphug

With a heart that is truly touched I can honestly say yes, I can feel them. Because Nadir was my dog, I really didn't think anyone would care but so many have shown so much compassion and caring for him, even in the midst of their very own anquish.

Judy, I think it's safe to say that most of us here, if not all of us, care about Nadir, ours or not!! Maybe the vet can also give Nadir something to boost his immune system. I know when Misty started having problems my vet put her on Immuno Support. He actual admitted to me that he takes it himself when he feels a cold coming on. It's great stuff but only available via script. Nadir is always in my thoughts and prayers

    Claudia,

I have truly learned that. You and so many, many others have shown me that over and over again. I just hope that I can in turn offer to others who need it what so many have shown to me.

I'm going to call the holistic veterinarian he visited last year who helped him so much. She was able to boost his immune system last year when he had this problem but we didn't know the cause, with 4Life-Transfer Factor Plus among other things.

  6. I'll start by thanking everyone again for keeping Nadir in your thoughts. Things are still not right with him but at least I know now what he needs to be treated for. As far as treatment goes all I know at this time is Clindamycin, which he has been on since Friday night. I've been doing a little research on Toxoplasmosis to better understand why and how this has affected him the way it has while I wait to hear back from the neurologist that was on his case. I've learned that although Toxoplasmosis is actually quite common in both humans and animals with minimal problems, in those with a weakened immune system such as Nadir's the effects can be much more serious, causing the problems he's been having, or even worse it can be fatal.

  7. I'm just reading this now and this is truly heartbreaking :cry1 . With each post I read I was hoping to find that something had been found and treatment would be started. I am so sorry that things are turning out as they are. Sending lots of comforting thoughts to Waldo and his family.
