I would check for UTI, timing/amount of her water consumption during the day, bloodwork, and blood pressure check before starting meds. Those things would help you rule out other issues as well as hedge your bets against side effects if no other problems are found. Good luck!
I agree. Start by looking for the simple stuff first. Could be something easily fixable.

Wonderful news! There is a great dog treat cookbook that has lots of low protein treats in it....."You Bake'Em Dog Biscuits" by Janine Adams. Not sure if you're a baker, but maybe this will help you find suitable options. PM me & I can copy off some recipes for you if you'd like.

How old is Solo? My first thought is if it's only exertional (upon walks) that maybe it's cardiac related. Especially in a senior hound. Just a thought...

My vet insisted on using Lysodren but Denise, if you're in touch with Jean Dodds, she will recommend the Trilostane and she also has a published article written on its success
I wish this had been an option when Nevada was diagnosed. At the time it was not available in the USA. I probably would have tried this drug first.

Sorry to hear about your pup. Unfortunately, I do feel that it sounds like Cushings. Been there with my Nevada. PM me if you'd like. Best wishes...

My Vet also recommended no Rabies for Nevada when she was 14-15 years old.....because of age.

We'll all be with you.....

Nevada was on it for Cushings disease. Initially I thought I saw improvement, but eventually it failed. We did not use it for Canine Cognitive disorder though...

I have heard of people putting pills in a small glob of butter, putting it into the mouth and just holding the mouth closed. Once the butter starts melting, he will automatically start swallowing. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
I tried this the other day with a friends pup.....worked like a charm!

I'd sell my soul to be able to hear him speak....

If ice cream doesn't work...crush the pill up & disolve it in either water or chicken broth & syringe it into the mouth.

Prednisone will do that...
