  1. My polli who had an amp would scream and I mean blood curdling scream for 15- 20 minutes at a time late at night after er amp. 10mg of Valium helped. It was so pitiful.
  2. Beau had torn the tendon away from bone when he was 3 being silly. 3 hours of ortho surgery and screws it's better than ever. He could not put any weight on that leg at all without screaming. Bad memories. Beau had torn the tendon away from bone when he was 3 being silly. 3 hours of ortho surgery and screws it's better than ever. 3. What are the thoughts of stapling a dogs face for a wound the size of a quarter, near the ear rather than putting in a few stitches? Greyhound bit by another dog (rabies free), greyhound brought to ER vet. They wanted to close with 2-3 staples and E collar. Owner declined. Waited until vet opened at 8AM, brought greyhound in, had stitches done with local and dog was good to go in literally 10 minutes. What is your take on staples?
  4. Beautiful girl, moving tribute. I am so sorry.
  5. Oh beautiful girl, run free. I am so sorry for your loss.
  6. So Adrianne, what do you think? is it worth the time to do the treatments? Is it working?
  7. We don't and our dogs coats are soft and shiny!
  8. Yup. I got it and got it good from my Teddy. I was doing exactly what you said in opening thread. Teddy was lying down. I missed his signals. In one lunge, he bit me over my eye which required 8 stitches right over my eye and 2 on the other side of my face plus some dermabond to put together my skin in yet another area. All with one lunge. I lied in the ER. They prob thought it was domestic violence. Rich was waiting to get arrested.
  9. People are spiteful, not dogs.
  10. What a character he was! Sweet looking friend. I am so sorry for your loss.
  11. Thinking of you at this most difficult time. I am so sorry Thinking of you at this most difficult time. I am so sorry
  12. My "perfect" Ollie did it out of SA even though there were 4 other hounds because I seperated him (within view but not with them) when I first got him. He made $1200.00 worth of repairs to my bedroom furniture!!! :eek It was when I put them all together that it stopped.
  13. sometimes a wagging tail isn't what dog owners think. I don't know how it was for your pups but if the tail is erect and wagging short erect wags back and forth fast, that is not a good thing. That is an accident about to happen and the dogs need to be immediately pulled back from one another. I am always surprised to see how many dog owners of all breeds think, "oh Fido and your dog really like each other, look at the waggy tails". OY.

  16. Robin, sorry but, that's a hard pill to swallow. The last time I was there the waiting room was full of hounds and NOT all to be admitted for onco. They were there to donate blood and to see the family practice docs for annual exams, dentals ect. The ortho docs and the neuro doc's always have gh's on their book.l I'm sure your vet is a wonderful, educated vet that is similar with gh's but, to equate your vet to OSU-- sorry-cant buy it. Their gh research studies are unequaled. Have you ever been to OSU?? What data are you basing your statement on? I am truly happy you have complete confidence in your vets abilities but, to compare the two-- let's say we are on opposite sides of the fence. oh darn, my vet has been lying to me.
  17. Beau got sicker on the flagyl. He did well on pred and imuran. As he got better we weaned him off and only when he was better. Beau had gone down to 52.4 pounds. He was on pred for over a year. He started at 50- got raised to 60mg and we went down slowly from there. But he had to stay at that level until he was gaining and not flaring. Is Merlin on pred/imuran or budesonide?
  18. My vet spoke to Dr. Couto and he agreed. When they spoke it came out that my vets office sees more greyhounds than OSU on a 'pass through' basis.
  19. I have 6 hounds 2 are true hypothyroid. I think it's under diagnosed for fear of it being over diagnosed I have 6 hounds. 2 are hypothyroid . I feel it's under diagnosed for fear of being over diagnosed. My Chloe was diagnosed at age 2 and Teddy at age 7. Both responded well with meds.
  20. Beautiful boy. I am sorry. Beautiful boy. I am sorry.
  21. I have out of the loop for several days. I am so sorry for your loss.
  22. Teddy has had a corn on his front foot for some time. It is causing a lot of pain. He refuses to walk in the therapaws. Picture a person in flippers on dry land- that's my T. He has had the corn hulled several times but still holds his foot up in discomfort. He is walking less than 50% of what he used to walk. So, the time has come to have it surgically removed. I can have it done on this Thursday. It would be 2 weeks before we leave for grapehounds. My vet thinks he will be more comfotable than he is now. Do it now or wait till we get back?
