  1. I know nothing about LP, just a note to say hang in there. I know there will be people on this list who can provide you with some resources to help you make the right decision, and we'll all be pulling for Champ whichever route you choose.
  2. There was a post on here recently from one of our adopters who thought their grey had this. The test came back negative, but since there have been reports of false negatives they continued the treatment and saw improvement. The dog's name is Gromit if anyone wants to search for the thread for more details. That was the first I had heart of it.
  3. The needing to put his leg down when peeing and the falling over when he's been leaning don't seem out of the ordinary to me at all. If it were that alone, I would say not to worry. The other issue you are describing is a bit more unusual. How often does that happen?
  4. That is great news. My heart sank for a second with your cliffhanger title until I saw the heart icon. So glad it's this great news!!!!
  5. Just a bug bite...just a bug bite...
  6. Have you changed anything in his/her diet or exercise schedule over the past 10 months? Is your dog losing weight despite an increase in food?
  7. My male is. Neyla was too nervous in her younger days to donate (our blood bank won't let your dog donate if they are too nervous to take food during the process) and now she's too old (cut-off is 7 1/2). Zuri just had his first donation last month though - he did awesome! I definitely recommend it if you can manage the donation dates. If you complete a full year of donations (our commitment is 7 donations each year) your dog is entitled to free blood if he needs it, plus all of the TBD/HW testing and blood work is free. Of course, if you're a dumba$$ like me, then you have your vet do it and pay nearly $200 anyway. Why not let them?
  8. Deanna- I wish I could help you by staying home with your boy, but of course I have to sit at my crappy desk instead. I hope the time at home helps him recover more quickly and you get this figured out.
  9. Glad to hear she's doing well with the treatment. I hope this works!
  10. Good thoughts coming your way for both you and Blitz!
  11. When you give pepcid along with antibiotics to prevent stomach upset, is it better to give them at the same time or give the pepcid a little before (I would guess 20-30 minutes), or does it not matter? I always advise people to give it, and am giving it to Neyla with her Clavamox now, but never bothered with the timing of it. Just curious. So far no stomach issues anyway. Thanks!
  12. Sorry to butt in, but do you know how long Dr. Radcliffe is out of the office? I'm thinking it's getting close to time for Neyla to visit him for her toe problem.
  13. Have you tried applying EMT gel to the wound before wrapping? I would put a piece of nonstick gauze over it before wrapping as the gel is a bit sticky itself, but ti should help keep it closed.
  14. Hope that's all it is! So glad to hear he's eating and putting on some weight. I wouldn't be surprised. Colleen's Inu was my foster. He ate a pair of trainer gloves. The first one came up in the first week or so off the track, the second one came up a month later - totally whole! I hope that's all it is.
  15. I noticed the same things on Neyla's belly/legs one day. She's a black female, with a pretty hairless tummy. I thought I was crazy b/c I really thought they had popped up overnight, and just assumed I hadn't been paying attention (which didn't make sense b/c she gets a belly rub before bed every night, spoiled girl!). Anyway, this was earlier this summer, I just attributed it to her getting older. They're still there. So maybe it's not so impossible that they do pop up quickly and it's not an indication of any sort of problem.
  16. Have you tried EMT Gel? You can get it on Omahavaccine.com. It works wonders.
  17. Well wishes for Tootsie! I hope you get it figured out soon.
  18. A very late congratulations on your new family member. I'll be thinking of him on Friday. Sorry you are going through this, you guys are so strong for your pups!
  19. Hey, great news. I've been following along myself and am glad to see it's resolved, although my scientific mind really wants to know what specifically it was and how it got there!
  20. NO, NOT AT ALL! Well, my mom is only about 45 minutes from Dr. R, but the problem with that is my mom's cairn terrier, Molly, who terrorizes Neyla and Zuri when we visit. We could keep them separate, but it would still be really stressful, probably more so than just driving the 4 hours back. I wonder if this will truly require overnight hospitalization. Lisa mentioned that was included in the estimate, but in our visit Dr. C said this could almost be considered an "outpatient" procedure, so I'm guessing that means barring any complications she'll go home that day and the fee will be much lower. Pure speculation at this point, if the antibiotics don't work and we're headed toward surgery, I'll get the real estimate and be back to pick people's brains.
  21. I can't see not having Dr. Canapp do it since he's so good. I'd rather Neyla have the best care and pay more. That was just a ballpark, not an official estimate, but it did include everything - CBC, meds, surgery, and the biopsy once the toe is removed. Not sure how much the biopsy contributes to the cost, but I am guessing it's significant. I could consider Dr. Radcliffe, but I still don't imagine he's done as many of these as Dr. Canapp. Making that up in my head? I just think this is something Dr. Canapp could do with his eyes closed...
  22. Hi Matt - Welcome to GT! Glad to hear Gromit continues to do well. I really do hope this is the end of the issue for you - I just can't imagine Gromit not being up for walks or laps around the yard!!!
  23. Great news! I can't believe how much better the nodes look already, amazing!
