  1. Can you board him at the rescue where they will crate him and keep him safe? Where I live we board them at the adoption kennel.
  2. Stud tail is also called Tail Gland Hyperplasia. I read where some people have had success treating it with Aloe Vera gel.
  3. He also began to mark territory during his morning walk We say he is checking his Pee Mail. Sorry, that is what he is doing.
  4. Have you been on Greyhound Data? I see Stanis has 3 sisters that are still racing. He has a brother that Greysave.org in California has up for adoption. I see he has some Coldwater greyhounds as relatives. I have a Coldwater boy also. http://www.greyhound... Noon&x=27&y=14
  5. This link is to Dr Stack's GreytHealth. http://www.greythealth.com There is another article by Dr Bill on the Idioscynrities of Greyhounds. I know I didn't spell that right but if someone would please post a link to that article. Found the article http://www.greyhound...h_Packet_08.pdf There is also information on this website. The Greyhound Health and Wellness Program has free consultation and will work with your local vet. https://greyhound.osu.edu/ Thanks Would you like to post the greyhounds racing names? I am actually looking for two of Vallery's pups that should be coming off the tracks in Mexico. Many people look for their greyhounds relatives and set up reunions or just keep in contact with the extended greyhound family.
  6. There are groups in the US that take the greyhounds from the track's in Mexico into the US. I'm sure one of these groups would be happy to work with you. I actually think they would be thrilled to work with you.
  7. Sounds like you are near a track. You should try to hook up with an adoption group in your area. They can be a valuable resouce for you. Your greyhound will also enjoy being around other greyhounds as that is what they are use to.
  8. Try setting the water outside when he takes a break. He might be use to just getting his water when he goes outside. Sometimes they do not keep water inside their crate.
  9. I believe this group is within traveling distance if someone would contact them. Greyhound Rescue & Rehabilitation (GRR) P.O. Box 572 Cross River, NY 10518 Phone: 914-763-2221 Fax: 914-763-3631 Website: http://www.greyhoundrescuerehab.org EMail: greytest1@aol.com
  10. Don't take it personal. You are still getting to know your greyhound. You were in her space and her tail. I have been bitten by my loves a few times. If I wanted to get bitten right now ( just crazy talk) I could do something to cause it. Please forgive your greyhound and remember the tail is off limits. Big Hugs for both of you.
  11. Welcome from Tennessee. I would love to hug and kiss that beautiful nose Miss Willa.
  12. Just copy the IMG code from Photobucket and paste
  13. I would have have things checked out, lumps, bumps and an x-ray. I even drive them up to Ohio State from Memphis. Welcome to the club.
  14. We are so sorry for your loss. Words can not express your pain, please know you and Toby are in our Thoughts and Prayers. Remember, all our babies are there to welcome him. :f_red
  15. I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this yet. http://vet.osu.edu/cvm/dr-couto-receives-clinical-faculty-achievement-award
  16. Just a suggestion, if this greyhound does not work out. Ask for a return that is all settled in and knows the ropes. There are so many of this type greyhound being returned due to a chance in the family's situation. They know about cats and are experienced in life that the greyhound right off the track does not have.
  17. i agree with Diane. You greyhound is getting older and is now a senior with senior problems. There are greyhound folks here that specialize in taking care of these seniors. We have 10 seniors up to age 15 we take care of.
  18. Oh Jane, Know Joe was met by a group of our furkids. Can you picture them running together and having a party. I know my six were there to meet him. And everyone is pain free now. I know the pain you are in. :crying :crying :crying :crying
  19. Jane, my heart is breaking for you. I truly wish I could give you the comfort you have given me. Know you and Joe are in our thoughts and prayers. :crying :grouphug :grouphug
  20. he gets regular exercise at the dog park, about an hour or more of walker per day on weekends, and 30 to 45 minutes per day on work days. Just a thought after re-reading this. I don't think your greyhound is use to so much exercise. We find the more active ones tend to always look thin. We would have to carry some of ours back from a half hour walk. Our's are sprinters. They sprint from their beds outside to their potty area. They bang on the door to come in and sprint back to their beds. :lol
  21. We give our low weight greyhounds a little Dyne Trophy Nutritional Weight Supplement on there kibble. It helps them put on and/or keep the weight on. Your vet should have something like it or your local feed or farm store.
  22. We have fostered seizure greyhounds in the past and still have 2. One is 13 and the other is 15. We keep them on their meds, watch their weight and make sure they are safe with the other greyhounds. We crate them when we leave. Please PM me for questions and concerns. I just fostered a greyhound that had seizures at the track and no seizures or meds for the 3 months I fostered her. She was adopted to a family that has dealt with a seizure dog before just in case. What should one do when a dog is actively seizing, other than make sure there's nothing he can hurt himself on? [/i] I put an ice pack on there head and stomach. Soda cans work just as well and are usually handy. I have also put a few drops of honey in their mouth to bring up their glucose level. My old one seemed to come around faster and be in better shape with the honey.
  23. Can you upgrade his kibble to something like the Costco grain free Salmon and Sweet Potato? We also give them a high calorie liquid dietary supplement for Trophy. Your vet or farm store should have some.
