  1. I had a not so happy tail problem too. We opted to remove the whole tail, leaving a 3 inch nub. It healed wonderfully. However, I have met dozens of dogs with half/partial/3/4s and none of them had much difficulty healing. I would also take my dog to a new vet (I actually did switch vets through my process also) ASAP.

I too had a girl with a happy tail and removed all but 3 inches. What a difference after suffering with it for almost 8 years until she opened it and it wouldn't heal. I had it done at NGAP in Philadelphia last October and the vet did an amazing job. I had to change the bandage every other day for about a week and a half until the stitches came out, but it healed beautifully and we and she are very happy.

  2. I was in the Vet's office last night and picked up a brochure about a new Flea and Tick product made by Merial - who makes Frontline and Frontline +. It's called Certifect and it supposedly has one more ingredient in than Frontline Plus, but it doesn't say what it is. Have to find out if that "extra" ingredient is safe for greyhounds. Anyone ever heard of it?

  3. I have not tried Docsblend hair of the dog. I use Fresh Factors and Joint Health supplements from Springtimeinc.com and have had greyt results. I also use their Joint Health Capsules for people. I have been using these supplements for about 10 years.

    Ditto here!!!!!!!!!!

  4. My first four came right from the kennel and it is fun to teach them about how to be a pet in a home environment and watch them learn about stairs, doors, windows, furniture and soft beds, etc. It really didn't take them long to get the hang of a schedule or potty routine.

My last three had been fostered and it was somewhat easier as far as learning all of the basic stuff, but they all transitioned into the household quickly regardless of whether they had been fostered or not.
