Clicker training never worked for any of my greyhounds, but using s squawker id the trick.

I give mine the same thing. No problems.

Two very handsome boys. Congratulations.

My big boy has arthritis and some disk issues on his neck. He used to sleep on large, plush beds but now prefers the orthopedic hard, foam bed or the carpeted floor where it is very flat.

Try giving her a probiotic to help with the diarrhea.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum and into the "greyhound cult".

My 10 year old boy pants a lot also. I KNOW I can't walk him in the heat but he does it frequently when nothing else is going on. He is on pain meds for arthritis and all tests come back fine, including his heart, chest, lungs, etc. I just chalk it up to old age at this point.

I personally think this dog is lucky that he is being returned and can find his forever home with the RIGHT adopter.

Dodge has become very finicky with his food over the last two weeks (Iams in the green bag), but I attributed that to the Tramadol that he had started as I know it can affect their appetites. Sometimes he eats right away and other times he's not ready to eat until 2 hours later. He has been eating regularly over the last couple of days.

You did what was right for your girl, under the circumstances. There will be others available to you when the time is right.

My first four had never been in anyone's home before I adopted them. They are smart dogs and it's fun to watch them acclimate to something that a puppy learns from a young age. They are easy to train about what NOT to do in a house.
My next three were fostered, but not for long. I can't recommend one way or the other. All of mine were/are wonderful pets.

My guys get a Bordetella vaccination/sniff every 6 months. Don't take any chances and it's cheap.

Taylor was (is?) on Previcox, right? Did he develop side effects? Sweep had diarrhea with Meloxicam both times we tried it, but tolerates the Previcox. We give Pepcid 30-60 minutes beforehand.
I always found that Previcox was the easiest on their stomachs. My guy gets a 1/2 Pepcid (10 mg. daily) anyway for acid reflux and is on Previocox for a disc issue in his neck.

She's beautiful. Welcome to the group.

Don't hit yourselves over the head. You have made the right decision so that he can be re-homed in an atmosphere that he can handle. Maybe he just can't be an "only" and needs another dog or dogs to be with.

If he is content in his crate when you go out, I would leave him there. If he's happy in the crate, he can't get into any trouble.

Prayers and hugs.

Are you giving him a probiotic while he's on the antibiotic? You can also give him a Pepcid to calm his stomach.

I have a fenced yard, which my greys rarely used for anything more than relieving themselves or eating grass. They LOVE their neighborhood walks and socializing. They even know when it's time for that walk if I'm not ready and start bugging me. :-)

My girl had severe hypertension with her kidney disease. Don't know why you disagree. It is not that rare in greyhounds.

So I adopted my greyhound Wyatt about 5 months ago. He's a very shy and reserved dog, but he was able to bond with me very quickly. I live in a small house with hardwood floors, and at first he was very curious about new things. The past month or so, he has been extremely on edge and just terrified of everything. If there is anything out of place or new, he is scared to death of it. He used to be more curious than scared. For instance, if we are going for our walk around the neighborhood, and trashcans are out for trash day, he is terrified of the trash cans. Or if a car is just slightly on the sidewalk, he's scared of it. He used to not be like this when I first got him which just seems odd to me.
The worst thing though is his fear of the floor. He is so scared of the floor that he won't leave his safe spot at all. He won't go into the living room to eat or even go outside to go to the bathroom. After weeks he will start to gain a little confidence, then he might have a small slip trying to rush himself and then we are back at square one for another month where he won't leave his spot. I literally have to carry him to the door and then hold on to him so he doesn't dart back to his safe spot just for him to go to the bathroom outside. If I try to train him by walking him around on a leash with treats throughout the house, he just refuses. He isn't food or toy motivated. He has a very defeatist attitude where if I ask him if he wants to go potty he just lays down refusing to get up.
He used to not be like this when I got him. If he slipped before, it would take a couple hours of being scared and then he would be back to normal walking around throughout the house with me. I seriously don't know what to do. I've never had or seen or heard of a dog with this behavior of not having any motivation whatsoever. I have a feeling that he needs a friend with more energy to give him assurance that things are okay and that he doesn't need to be so scared. It's very apparent that he needs assurance, but I don't know if I can get a second dog because the house is pretty small. I really feel bad for him and it is frustrating that he won't even eat or go to the bathroom. I know a lot of people are going to say "be patient" and whatnot, but this has gotten progressively worse with patience and not better. I just don't know what to do to help him be happier..
I would have his Thyroid checked if he was not skittish when you first got him.

What a stunning boy. Congratulations!!!!!

Handsome boy. Congratulations. Rest assured, you won't have to teach him about the couch.

My boy just turned 9 and he is a chow hound, but lately he will only eat 3/4ths of what I give him for breakfast. He's fine otherwise and not losing weight and he does get a mid-day treat. He downs his entire dinner with gusto, so I'm not worrying.

I too used the Springtime Joint Health chewables. ORIGINAL FORMULA. The Advanced has Boswillia in it and none of my dogs would touch it.
Springtime was very good about sending me the originals and I donated the advanced to a rescue group in my area.
