Guest FastDogsOwnMe
My 11.5 year old broodie has very large visible veins on her belly. They don't seem to bother her, she appears completely healthy in every way, and she's had them as long as I've had her. I'm just wondering if this is normal for some hounds? I don't recall any of my other Greyhounds or Whippets having these. Here's a picture of her stomach.
deboosh
It's only a guess, but since you said she's a broodie, I think those veins are a result of her many pregnancies and nursing her puppies. racindog
I've seen it on some of my hounds. Don't think its anything to be concerned with. And now that you mention it perhaps it was mostly on the broodies?
GreyPoopon
Her littermate sister Pink does not have such prominent veins. She does have lots more hair. Betsy's veins are pretty prominent, but not all that big. Graham's were big and prominent. The winner by far was broodie Dixie, with huge prominent veins, and at least 40 puppies to her credit. Guest FastDogsOwnMe
So maybe it is just a broodie thing and normal. Pep is VERY furry elsehwere, but for some reason, keeps a bald belly. She has the nicest bunny fur elsewhere though, even on her butt.
