Newgreymom
Our vet prescribed Tylan Powder for Dylan's ongoing diarrhea. It says 1/8 tsp 2x a day. He's 78 lbs. That doesn't seem like very much. Does anyone know if this sounds correct?
KF_in_Georgia
Yes. It doesn't take much. Some people whose dogs have to be on Tylan long-term will fill capsules with their dog's dose. gryhnd_adoptee
Yep, it really is that small of an amount, and works wonders too. Our girlie Kare Bear came down with the diarrhea during the Taste of the Wild recall a while back. Not sure if it was related to the diarrhea or not, but she was on it for a week. It was very soon after the first dose that she started to feel better. It is very bitter though and we had to mix it in some really stinky canned food to get her to take it. The loved that part. CaliforniaGreys
Lenny is on it. He's 65lbs and he can have 1/8-1/4 twice a day Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless
greyhead
Spencer has been taking Tylan for years (he has IBD). We find that the "00" size gel caps from the health food store hold about 1/8 tsp -- close enough, anyway. It is *very* bitter stuff. LuvEarsies
Yep 1/8 tsp 2x day here too. We mix it into pumpkin and then stir it into his kibble - no problems eating Quote Bernadette with Jak, Horizon, Kota, Barnaby, Madison, Earl, Tiggy, Finney, Tommy, Woody, Tyler and Lincoln all at the bridge
heartdogs
This is used for EPI dogs & a lot of them have to be on it long term so they use the capsules . Hope it helps your pup.

KF_in_Georgia
EPI = Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. greyhead
But it's used for other things besides EPI. Our dog has IBD, for instance, but not EPI. And I'm sure it's used for lesser, temporary GI problems that involve diarrhea. Guest BrindleBabes
Tess is on it: 1/8 tsp for a 70# girlie. First twice a day, then once a day, down to every three days and now we're going to try just once a week (per the vet's instructions). So far, so good.
