Sambuca
I'm a pet sitter and I'm taking care of a very fat pug. In 4 days she went from 24# to 21# losing 10% of her body weight. She also seems depressed. Do you have any ideas what could cause this?
greytpups
She's used to eating a lot more and you are feeding her more healthy amounts?? Maddiesmom
She is sad from being away from her parents. When I pet sit for other dogs this some times happens that they don't want to eat. Maddiesmom
oh, I thought you had her. I would take the dog to the vet then to see if there is anything medically wrong. I hope she is ok. Guest cruzNhounds
Are her owners worried? maybe they should take her in to rule out any possible medical condition she may have.
Sambuca
I just brought her to their holistic vet who didn't do anything. I was looking for ideas as to what it could be to help convince them to bring her to a regular vet to run tests. They really l like this holistic guy, but I think hes kind of a quack. FiveRoooooers
Could she have ingested a toy or piece of something else that is causing her to feel anorexic? Quote Old Dogs are the Best Dogs. OwnedBySummer
It's so hot... and with all her fat, she must be feeling it a lot. Perhaps it's combination of being too hot and maybe you are providing exercise that she's apparently not used to receiving? Edit: But if she's never acted this way before, even with similar heat and fatness... I'd take her to a real vet, too. Edited July 16, 2012 by OwnedBySummer Quote Lisa B. Sambuca
I just spoke with the owner and he claims shes been eating and that they did cut back the food. I told him I was concerned and hes going to keep a close eye on her. I'm bringing her back to the holistic guy in a week. If theres more weight loss like that we're bringing her to a real vet. If she were mine I'd bring her today, but shes not and this is actually very impressive for this family to agree with me. I'll take what I can get.
