djsgreys
I picked up Scully last Saturday. She was a bounce and came with eye drops - Maxitrol (which had been prescribed in Sept but never used). I have been giving her the drops 3 times daily and just realized that I am now out.. Tomorrow is a holiday here so regular vet is not open. I do have a new bottle of Maxidex. Anyone with experience that can tell me if it is okay to substitue the Maxidex for the Maxitrol until Tuesday morning. From the labels Maxitrol - antiinflammatory/antibiotic Neomycin 3.5mg/ml polymyxin B sulfate 6000 ?l/ml dexamethasone 0.1% Maxidex antiimflammatory dexamethasone 0.1% Quote Deb, and da Croo In my heart always, my Bridge Angels - Macavity, Tila the wannabe, Dexter, CDN Cold Snap (Candy), PC Herode Boy, WZ Moody, Poco Zinny, EM's Scully, Lonsome Billy, Lucas, Hurry Hannah, Daisy (Apache Blitz), Sadie (Kickapoo Kara), USS Maxi, Sam's Attaboy, Crystal Souza, Gifted Suzy, Zena, and Jetlag who never made it home. http://www.northernskygreyhounds.com
BatterseaBrindl
I've never used either of these meds, but from your label descriptions it certainly won't hurt to to have the substitute... It just means she won't be getting any antibiotics today. IMHO it is better that she at least get the anti-inflamatory than nothing at all. GeorgeofNE
I'm with Nancy. The steroids part of those drops are probably what she REALLY needs. A couple days without the antibiotics shouldn't do any harm. Quote Susan, Hamish, Mister Bigglesworth and Nikita Stanislav.
