Too Food Motivated?

Recommended Posts

I'd really like to know the answer to that, too! Joe would be a great READ dog; he loves kids, attention and meeting people -- but I don't think he'd pass the CGC, cause you can't have treats with you when they take it! He's smart as the dickens and an all-around nice dog. Goes everywhere with us and loves everyone. Just won't work if there's no reward being offered! See, smart dog! ;)

with the food reward is really good in the begining...but you have to out smart your dog at all times. fake the food, give her food, subsitiue a super happy response, give them food, forget the food- a pat on the head...mix things up. let them never know when the food is going to appear or where the food is coming from. a favorite trick is spitting the hot dog piece ot of the mouth and letting them catch it- now that takes practice and your dog looks up at you waiting for commands that's team works.

your dog has trained YOU very very well, you produce food all the time. now, retrain your dog, simple tasks and keep that food a surprise!
