greyhead Posted July 12, 2011 Share Posted July 12, 2011 Our LS dog has been treated to good effect for almost three years with nothing but acupuncture and chiropractic. When his condition worsens, as it will, we will give the Depo-Medrol shots. Our dog just lost a ton of weight on pred, so we never use that. When they don't have enough muscle to keep their back legs working, I wouldn't give them something that leads to more muscle wasting. Wishing the very best to you and sweet Ava. It is really great to have a place to chat place where people know how special the bond with these hounds can be. My brother sometimes teases me about joining the greyhound cult. It doesn't help when my car is covered in snart and I am wearing my greyhound tshirts that happen to be covered in dog hair. We'll keep y'all posted on how things progress with Ava. Guest MorganKonaAlex Posted July 14, 2011 Share Posted July 14, 2011 Morgan had LS. We tried a Depo-Medrol shot but it didn't work for him. I've heard others have good results with it though. You may want to check into Gabapentin (Neurotin). It's a pain killer that is especially good at nerve pain. It can be combined with anti-inflammatories or tramadol.
