Guest greytkidsmom
His student called this morning to say what a good boy he was. She went on and on about what a good patient he was when getting his blood drawn etc. That's my boy! No idea what time he is going yet - there are a few cases ahead of him. She will call all day with updates though.
Guest greytkidsmom
I got the call that he is under anesthesia and they have completed the CT scan. They didn't see any "tumor" per se but the bone on the right side looks a little "hazy." They will therefore make a cut from behind the right canine across to the tooth that was behind the left canine. After that, they will turn him over and look at his nose. If the nose is too "droopy" there are some incisions in the soft tissue they can make that may make it not sag so much. The dentist looked at his lower canines and recommended letting him recover from this surgery before anything is done to them. He might not have any problem with the lower canines rubbing since they are taking so much more tissue off of the upper jaw. Now starts the prayers for steady hands and for getting clean margins. I hate that my sweet man has to go through all of this.

Guest greytkidsmom
Wednesday update: Kebo is out of surgery and awake! They took both sides of the maxilla to back behind both upper canine teeth. The left side (that was removed before) didn't have as much tissue to cover as the right so we will have to watch his healing closely. After the first part they flipped him over and found that he had a really droopy nose. They did some cosmetic surgery to lift it up and the surgeon says it looks way better than it did before they gave him the "noselift." The student will call me tonight with an update. Thanks again so much for your prayers and warm thoughts.

sweetdogs
So happy to hear he's awake - you must be so relieved. I guess they can't tell yet what he had - probably have to wait for the path report to come back. I've been thinking about him all day - let the healing begin! Guest greytkidsmom
Thursday update: Kebo is still doing well according to his student. He has been on scheduled pain medications but overnight he got very anxious - pacing and panting and not wanting to lay down. They gave him something for anxiety and an additional dose of pain medication and he settled out. They added an anti-inflammatory since his nose is pretty swollen. No mention of stress colitis which he got after surgery at Tech. He was offered food this morning but wasn't very interested. No mention of when he can come home yet - I will ask her tonight when she calls. Pathology takes about a week but the Surgeon said that at about 3 or 4 days he starts to pester the pathologists because he is impatient Edited April 7, 2011 by greytkidsmom

Guest greytkidsmom
Friday update: I am told that he has developed a good appetite and ate breakfast and is drinking water this morning. They are stopping his IV fluids and transitioning him to oral antibiotics. We get to bring him home tomorrow! Have I mentioned how much I appreciate the support I have gotten here? Thanks so much - it means a lot to know there are people in the universe who care
