BertnLil
I just noticed a lump on Birdie's neck. I'm taking Osorno to the vet tomorrow AM to check up on an anal gland infection, I'm calling them in the AM to see if I can bring in Birdie to get this checked out. Birdie will be 12 this year. I need the power of GT. This little guy is such a PITA but such a big part of our life. Update: 3/23: Birdie finished his last dose of antibiotics last night and the lump is gone! Folks, this was an almost golfball sized lump (very visible on a JRT). The vet was right. So, for future reference, if there is only ONE overly swollen gland that shows up quickly, almost overnight, there is no need to immediately freak out. Thanks for all the good thoughts! Charlies_Dad
I hope it's nothing serious. We have found a couple on our Ratty (she's 12) and they ended up just being fatty lumps. Likely that is what Birdie has. BertnLil
Birdie is seeing the vet tomorrow AM, that was the earliest appointment we could get with a vet. Will update then, thanks for asking. I'm not worrying about it, no use worrying. Quote Pam with Sockem the GH, Birdie the JRT, Osorno the chocolate lab, and Shelby the shepherd mix. BertnLil
Well, the vet says it is indeed a swollen lymph node. The good news is that all his other lymph nodes are normal. She said this is the third time in a year and a half that a dog has come in with ONE swollen lymph node, and in all three cases the dogs went on antibiotics and were fine. It could be any of a number of things, so we're just putting him on broad spectrum antibiotics for 10 days. No need to panic yet. Thanks for all the good thoughts.
