Guest FijiHound
Hmmm I've only emptied half the bag into the sink...it did not occur to me that ducks had either black or white feet or a bit of both or how huge their nails are!!! Cassie enjoyed the tester foot immensely! The duck nails are just as long as hers!!! Is it just me or does the duck foot and Casie's foot look awfully alike??? Laurenbiz
Strange...I've never thought of duck feet to be a chew toy! Where do you buy them? Do you cook them at all before feeding the houndies? dante2zoe
Those are a delicacy around here! Never had any dark ones though! It grosses the kids out to see the little toes hanging out of the dogs' mouths when they are chomping down. I must be a bad mom because their reactions make me laugh! Trihounds
While it may gross some folks out, you get used to it, it's great for the dogs, they love them, etc. We either feed them outside OR force them to eat over their bowls, otherwise, they prefer to walk to their beds and chomp them over there, which can be un-sanitary. Don't tell anyone, but our dogs have the best time if we throw the feet outside for them to chase and search out! We throw for one dog at a time so there is no competition. Sounds like fun, huh ?! Guest Wasserbuffel
The white bits on the feet were orange while the ducks were alive.

Do you cook them at all before feeding the houndies? My dogs have been on a raw food diet for over a month now. Cassie goes completely gaga over chicken feet so I thought I'd try and get some duck feet as they're bigger. Contacted a duck farm here in Fiji that provide ducks to restaurants minus the feet that were either being thrown away or turned into fertilizer. So I got it cheap US$.50c a kilo - score!!! No cooking of the duck feet - does kinda look gross by the time they get to the end and the toes are hanging out their mouth! ewwwww.... The white bits on the feet were orange while the ducks were alive. Well you just learn something new everyday! LOL will have to try that Cassie may sulk - she's a diva for being hand fed!

Guest Lovemyhound
OK, Eww?? Those things would freak me out so badly, I don't think I could possibly feed them to my puppies!! What about those horrible looking nails?? They just chomp them right down? YIKES!! (of course, my VERY food motivated girl houndie would probably be in heaven with one of those things!) Yeah you gotta look away when your feeding them that! but think of all the positives - what if you had visitors you were dying to get rid of? How long do you think they'd stay in the living room with a dog staring at them with those toes sticking out of its mouth!!! lol unfortunately Cassie loves them so looks like duck feet are permanently on the menu...
