Sadly, I know exactly how you're feeling. It just sucks. Enjoy every single day, spoil him rotten and take lots of pictures. I fretted and fussed over Lewis at first...the best thing I ever did was relax and let him be the big old puppy he wanted to be. Dangit...I haven't cried for days.

Lora- I KNOW how shocked you are at this. I too thought for sure we beat IT but IT got us.

I am so sorry. Keep him as comfortable as you can... for as long as you can.

I am so sorry.

Just reading the header and went through all of this in one fell swoop and now sit here with tears running down my face again - I am so sorry to hear this about your sweet Willie - I absolutely hate this disease. And I know so many others feel the same way. And each time another is diagnosed or the disease progresses or we have to walk another to the Bridge, I know that we each replay our own scenarios in our head and hearts. Take the time you have left with him and snuggle, play and take lots of pictures - go to your favorite places, see your favorite people and houndies - enjoy every minute and forget that this evil has it's hold on him. Those are the memories, smells and feelings you will need to help you make that last horrible gift of love. I hope it is many months (I wish I could say years) away. Keeping you in our prayers and thoughts and sending extra hugs and scritches.

Also, on a side note, with our Angel Vinnie, keeping the fan on him and his water bowl near his bed and wiping him down with a wet washcloth and treats of ice cubes along with his meds really helped him to be comfortable. Just things to try for your sweet, sweet boy. I sure do love his pix.

Thank you all for your good thoughts and well wishes. I knew in my heart that this news was coming though my mind was in denial. He coughed for the first time about 6 days ago and my heart dropped. He has coughed 4 times since then (while I was home) and I always made an excuse like he just ate a snack or he played a bit hard. It is too bad we cannot will this evil beast away. This is just heart wrenching

One day, too many souls already lost, we WILL beat this thing. Until that glorious day is upon us, we can only hug and love our families and cherish each day.

I'm so sorry. It is just so unrelenting. Whatever time, and I hope it's more than you imagine, don't make it about dying. Make every day about him being there alive with you. Those days will make sweet memories later when you need them so enjoy them as best you can now. :grouphug
