Urgent Help Needed!

My animals are like my kids. I'd do/spend whatever it took to make them better, even if I had to sell stuff to raise the money. So sad. Prayers here from NH.

They are in route home with Buddy right now. He is sedated with an IV and Foley (sp). He is laying where the table use to be in the RV. They are trying to get a hold of their regular vet and are having no luck. They are really set on him looking at him instead of going straight to the spinal specialist. He has not had improvement. He does have what they called deep pain sensation which is apparently good. He appeared to have some sensation in his back paws, but cannot move them. No one was overly concerned about moving him around.

I really hope he can recover. :(

More prayers added - I imagine this trip is going to seem like forever before they reach the vet. Adding chants that he gets better too.

that's very interesting.

PEG...poly ethylene glycol...AKA Antifreeze

I'm pretty sure antifreeze is ethylene glycol. Poly-ethylene glycol is not toxic and is actually used in foods as a softening agent--like cookies that remain soft in the package.

I want to clarify. Propylene glycol is the one used in food, but polyethylene gylcol is a non-toxic polymer in pharmaceutical and medical purposes.

I know they are home as my brother in law came by and picked up the xpen from me. They were waiting for him to get back from my house to unload Buddy and get him set up. He did not know if they stopped at the vets first. Shawn said he did not look good. :( I will post as I hear more.

Thank you all for your help and support and prayers for Buddy. He is going to need them!!!

pain reflexes are a good indicator. Hopefully, there's bladder and bowel control. These are all positive indicators. I have seen a dachshund recover 3 months post paralysis who had no bowel or bladder control and no feeling at all. He was always weaker in the hind quarters but went on to live to be 14, which was 8 years post accident. Truly, it's remarkable to see how some of these animals regain sensation.

That is encouraging! They saw their vet yesterday. He said it did not look good. :( If they will see improvement it should be in 4-6 weeks. If none is seen at all, sadly a decision will probably have to be made.

He had a rough night. I am going to stop by there in a little while to take some supplies to them. He is a heavy dog and that makes it trickier.

I brought them over some stuff and saw him. :( Heartbreaking!!! He is in good spirits still. Wants to get up and can't. Can't figure out why he is leaking constantly. He keeps trying to clean up. I took them a belly band, pads, puppy pads and our dog life vest that has a full belly panel and handles to lift him with. They are having a hard time moving him. This was such a active dog. I hope he recovers. Please keep him in your prayers. He needs them badly.
