smday
Best is about to turn 11 and looks like he is in great shape. He had his annual vet check yesterday and things may not be so great. His abdomen was a bit tender and the bloodwork came back with low thyroid levels. He doesn't have any other symptoms of having a low thyroid so the vet thinks its something else. We are scheduling him for an ultrasound as soon as possible. I'm pretty worried about the old guy. On a good note, I was explaining greyhounds to my new vet who is pretty young. I wasn't sure how much he knew about greyhounds. I mentioned that if things came back weird from the ultra sound, I would like to have a consult with Ohio State. Dr. Cohn, the new vet, said "Oh yes, Dr. Couto! I went to Ohio State and was lucky enough to work with him". So, whatever happens, I feel that all my dogs are in really good hands. Burpdog
Do a full panel at Michigan for the thyroid. You know--as my vet says, 99% of the greyhounds he has examined have tender abdomens. That and getting their nails done (or not....) are what they are known for Sending lots of prayres. smday
Ok - the ultrasound was clean - no abnormalities shown so that's good. How we just have to figure out the thyroid. I will take Diane's advice on that. Quote Lexi the pointeresque mutt (1999), Homer the chi mix (2010) and Lacey the ? (2009). Always remembering Dita, Best, Oba, Bubba, and the others at the bridge.
