Lexie's Hot Spot Vet Was In..update

Recommended Posts

well it worked..i posted in an updated post. so it must have been the combination one. I only had to use one day and it is almost gone..no more redness. the vet did say it was like neosporin but stronger. We put pesticides on our dogs with the flea treatment and have to wear gloves. I guess we have to weigh what is more importnat at the time. I know I wouldntwant to get fleas so i have to put pesticides on her. ty all for caring

Lexie is gone but not forgotten.💜

Interesting re the chloramphenicol -- didn't know that. All my (for the dogs) topical steroids have had the "gloves" warning. Cortaid, of course, doesn't .......

Yuppers. Even its application in eye drops for humans is debated!

If it's just a bruise why not go to the local natural food store and buy a tube of arnica gel or arnica cream? Arnica is used to reduce the discoloration and swelling from bruising. You could use it in conjunction with the Neosporin.

Interesting as I've never heard of the stuff. Haven't had a problem with out Grey but when I had Shelties and if they had hot spots (one of my females would get one now and then at the base of the tail), I used a diluted solution of Betadine and water. I'd soak a cotton ball in the liquid, squeeze most of it out, part the hair and dab it on the skin. Either that or apply on the skin with a Q tip. Always worked well.
