Guest ss556
He seemed better after the vet and the vet prescribed carafate. He ate chicken and rice yesterday, two times. He was fine last night and this morning. I got up and gave him his meds this a.m. w/ a small amount of ricotta cheese, like I've been doing for years, and about 40 mins. later he threw it all up with yellow, looking like uncooked scrambled eggs. I will be calling the vet again this morning, but does anyone have any ideas? He's making me nervous again. Batmom
Acid tummy. Guest ss556
Alan's been on pepcid twice a day for sometime b/c of all the meds and the kidney disease. Actually, the vet thought it was too much, getting rid of all the acid is not necessariily good for digestion. So I'm supposed to give it to him every other day, 20 mgs. I've tried zantac at one point, don't remember why I went back to pepcid. He seems fine - otherwise, for now. He thew up on Tues. and then again today. Last night he had the Big D and he's at the park now with DH so I don't know what will come out of that end! THE VET'S OFFICE CALLED AND SAID I SHOULD TAKE HIM THERE IF I CAN AS HE SHOULDN'T BE THROWING UP. No kidding. NO FOOD, NO MEDS FOR NOW. He seems fine and I have to leave for work soon:( Edited December 12, 2008 by ss556

Guest EmilyAnne
Is it possible he has developed a sensitivity to poultry? ETA: Don't do hamburger in replacement of poultry. Too fatty for senstive dogs. For Henry I do boiled stew meat (I remove visible fat first) shredded in food processor. Guest ss556
DH went home at lunchtime - said Alan seemed fine and fed him a little chicken and rice. We'll see how he does with that. Hopefully the carafate will help him. I can't wait to get home and see him.

Guest ss556
UPDATE: He's doing much better. I don't know what happened to him and neither does the vet but no dairy for Alan and carafate for 5 days is the order. So far, so good, knock on wood. Thank you all for your well wishes once again!
