Guest Sassy
I'm moving soon and have been interviewing vets in the new area. One said she worked with a lot of greyhounds while at Tufts University. She said that many of the adoption groups bring the pups there for care. Can any of you Northeastern folks verify this statement? Has anyone had teir grey(s) cared for through Tufts Univ? All information is welcome! Thank you. Guest SoulsMom
Yes, lots of greys are treated at Tufts, but I don't know about the adoption groups per se . . . . It's not my first choice, but they do see a lot of greys there. Soul was just there in ICU a few weeks ago. GreyWrangler
Yes, I know others who take their greyhounds there. Have you settled on a certain town? Guest Naty
Tufts tended to my boy when he was stricken with osteo and treated for laryngeal paralysis, but this is not necessarily where adoption groups take the hounds for general wellness care. It is more for emergency or specialized cases. Edited November 20, 2008 by Naty

MP_the4pack
The good thing with vet hospitals is there is a lot of exposure to different stuff. The bad is that the care is usually done by a student, under the eye of a specialist. I took Dima to U of Penn for broken ribs. Student was in charge of xraying her. The doctor came in showed me the xrays and said nothing's broken. Half way home it hit me, the moron took a pix of the wrong side.
Saffron
Tufts and Vescone/Vetcision in Waltham are where my greys are referred by our wonderful local vet in extreme circumstances. We lost a beloved grey at Tufts last month. I have nothing but praise for the treatment we had from Tufts. It was just a no-win situation. The student we dealt with was simply wonderful and her supervisor excellent. Guest SoulsMom
I do have to say, Tufts probably saved Soul's life a few weeks ago. If I had not gotten him there for IV treatment, well, I don't even want to think about the outcome. He did come home in rough shape though. He had a horrible rash on his chest and belly. I don't know if that was from the bedding or from Soul freaking out because he hates to be in a cage. And I don't think he slept at all while he was there. I wouldn't use Tufts as my regular vet, be I'm so happy they are close by for emergencies. In my opinion, they are so much better than a regular E-vet. And, they have a lot of diagnostic equipment that regular vet don't have access to on a daily basis.
Guest crazy4greys
We couldn't get a quick appointment for a grey that needed to see a specialist at Tufts, so we went to Angell. They are another option too.
