Guest StagnBob Posted November 20, 2008 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Merlin has had the Big D for a few days, following a good gnawing on a bone. He was ok to start with, but the last couple of days he's got worse, didn't eat his tea last night. Took him to the vets this morning and they have kept him in, he is on a drip, pain meds and antibiotics. He has a sore tum and they think a small piece of bone is working it's way through him. Poor old guy, he is just 10, we havn't had him long and he was starting to put some weight on, that has dropped off now. The vets say he is doing well, getting their attention by huff huff huffing a lot (thats what he does at home!) Should be able to pick him up late this evening, when he has had enough fluids replaced. He just needs some love and snuggles to help with the healing process - that nasty bone!!! Merlin is home, he has peed, had some water and a bit of 'special prescription' food. He would have eaten more, but the vet said just to give him little and often just to make sure it doesn't go straight through him. He also has some paste to take, to help with binding him up and lining his poorly tum. All the other dogs are so pleased to see him and it's great to have him home. We have to go back to the vets tomorrow afternoon, and again on Saturday. He has been in a crate all day with a drip and he has made it clear to all those at the vets that he was not amused by this at all! Thank you again, he seems to be back to his normal 'I think I am 2' self which is great to see.
