Introducing: The Lovely Ms. Nikita!

On Saturday, the beautiful and elegant Nikita (formerly known as Czarina) left the GPI kennel in Woodinville, WA, and drove home with me to Olympia. She's my first greyhound--in fact, the first dog I've ever lived with--and all the novelty and the adjustments and learning have been so exciting since then that I've barely had time to sit down at the computer, but I did want to share a few pictures.

Her adoption photo:

And in the turn-out yard at the kennel:

It's hard to get photos of her standing upright and still, because she's usually either madly in motion, or flumped down, like this:

I will never stop being amused at the sort of drawbridge look of her in repose, with her little wasp waist so high up off the ground:

She is smart, and beautiful, and loving, and has already pretty much figured out the Dreaded Stairs of Doom. We are working on a few separation issues, which I'll post about over in Training and Behavior, but for now, I just wanted to say hello to everyone!
