Guest pjcoopjazz
Hi, Sparkle... 5 years old... is usually a happy pup.. but the last 2 days she's been lethargic and not eating. She feels a little hot to me.... She's not even interested in a slice of ham.. very unusual... Do Greyounds get 'colds' and become lethargic etc.. Do I need to get my hound to a vet? Thanks in advance Paul
Guest KateWantsaGrey
better safe than sorry, i'd get her to the vet.
Guest lizmego
If she were my dog I would take her to a vet. The vet will probably check her temperature, test her urine and a blood test. If still not results and cannot determine what is wrong, I would test blood for a tickborne diease. The vet will have to send blood sample off to a lab. SPDoggie
Is it hot where you are? My guy Kingsley eats much less in the heat. But a visit to the vet is always best! GeorgeofNE
As everyone else said, I'd take her to the vet. Have the vet show you how to take her temp., for future reference. It's quite simple. ShantisMom
If it is not unusual weather in your area or something easily explainable, I would head to the vets. If my girls is that off, something is wrong. Quote The Girls
Guest pjcoopjazz
just an update... Sparkle is being kept overnight at the vets.. They are doing blood tests etc.. and re-hydrating her (not drinking enough in the hot weather). Her temperature was 105!!! Best guess is kennel cough but we are hoping it is not anything too serious. Guest pjcoopjazz
Turned out to be TEETH! She had to have 10 teeth removed as they were rotten/infected. She's home now but groggy. Look out for those teeth on your hounds.......!! Anyone else been through this?? Paul
Jiffer
Oh goodness, Paul. Glad she's going to be okay! Greys are notorious for having terrible teeth. It's hit and miss too, some have great teeth, others you can't keep clean. I have one boy who had to have most of his pulled a year and a half ago because his teeth are so terrible. Meanwhile, his littermate brother has beautiful teeth.
