Sorry you and Bruce are facing GME. You are in great hands with Dr. Sisson at Angell. I ended up taking my Cricket there for a second opinion but she had been on prednisone for too long and it was too late to do much for her. They were wonderful and very knowledgeable. I got the impression that they were on the cutting edge of treatment. Cricket saw Dr. Sisson's colleague, Dr. Ruelman (spelling :unsure ) and she was wonderful but she saw Cricket too late in the game to do much.

Sending lots of prayers and support. :grouphug

How is he doing?

I was wondering as well.

Thank you both for asking. And, thank you everyone else for your supportive replies.

Unfortunately, Bruce had to go to his regular vet for another issue (his left foot and leg were swollen, probably due to an infection, unknown cause, he is immune suppressed with the meds so he is back on Baytril). My vet mentioned that his walking seemed slightly off, and I said, oh, well because of his foot righ? And she said, well either that or the GME, and I thought no it can't be, it can't be, he's still on steroids, the neurologist agreed that it is highly unlikely that GME symptoms would reappear when he is still on prednisone therapy, but after observing him today, I'm almost certain they are. I have to e-mail his neurologist now and hope I hear from him soon re: what to do.

I don't know if I will have to bring him to Boston, which I normally would not have so much of an issue with (to see a specialist), except this week, I am flying out of NYC on Weds for 2 weeks to get married!!! I don't have my dress. I should have it tomorrow. I have not packed yet. Friday was my last day at work before this trip/wedding/etc., yet I still have a ton of work to do and will go into the office tomorrow.

And, I want my baby boy to be well while I'm gone and for many years thereafter. I hope he gets better. I never thought that he would not. I just figured he would.

I'm glad you finally have a diagnosis! :) I hope Bruce continues to do better.

I think your mom was going to watch the dogs while you're on vacation right? Let her know that she can call me if she needs anything. Hopefully Bruce's GME symptoms are not flaring up again.

Thanks, Lindsay. Yes, Mom will be watching the crew. I'll be sure to give her your contact info!! That's so nice of you!!

His neurologist thinks Bruce is coming out of remission, so I'm bringing him to Boston tomorrow. His treatment plan will be altered. I don't know what new drug he will put him on, but I am starting to get a little panicky about the whole thing. I hope it is not something (a) injectable, or (B) with severe side effects, since I won't be around to monitor him. Poor, poor Bruce. I still can't get over the fact that he's just two years old. There are some good signs though. I think his symptoms right now are very subtle, and he has really beefed up since I first adopted him. He is very tall, but was also very thin. I'll have to get a check on his weight tomorrow, but he has filled in quite a bit I'd say. I'll know a lot more after the doctor sees him.

Good News for Bruce! His neurologist does not think his symptoms are returning. He thinks Bruce is overcompensating for a foot injury incurred last week, which of course makes sense, but I didn't expect that it would affect his gait. So, better safe than sorry in this case. Now, I don't have to worry about the GME returning while I'm away. And, Bruce is up to 80 lbs, which is an increase since I've known him. I'll have to see what he was around when I got him . . . .
