Guest PNWtrillium
Cyndi, you must be as emotionally exhasted as Alex is hungry. It's so difficult to see our loved ones in pain/hardship. Sending you all positive energy for a solution to Alex's problems.

Guest CyndiW
Alex has actually been doing much better the past few days. He choked/vomited Thursday night because I got too confident and tried to hand feed him a few bites of kibble. For the rest of the night I tried to give him various combos of food (pureed) and he would have none of it (not even Ensure) which scared me. However, he woke up Friday morning with an extremely healthy appetite and has had one ever since. He is almost up to 2 cups of kibble (pureed) 3x a day which is double what he used to eat when he was healthy. As of yesterday, he is back on 100% of his normal food - no prescription mixed in because his last pancreas test was still normal. I know this sounds impossible but just since yesterday morning he looks like he has filled out. His emaciated little bony butt also seems to slowly be putting back on muscle too. I don't know for sure why suddenly he is not choking on the pureed food but it must have something to do with the addition of the Carafate. That is the only thing that the internist changed in his regimen. We are also feeding on the stairs so he is at an angle and we think that is helping too. He starts acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments on Thursday. This vet is over an hour away so I don't know how often we will be able to get him there but if it helps we will do our best to get him there as much as needed. He is definitely doing better but if he is ever going to eat solid food of any type again I think he is going to need some alternative treatments to stimulate the esophagus. The best part is that he feels great!! He plays a lot with his "babies" (stuffies) and starting a few days ago when he comes in from outside he is doing the jump high in the air to shake and run around the living room shake. He has tried this in the past few weeks but was still too weak and would almost fall. He is definitely very strong now because he gets fairly high in the air for the shakes now just like before all of this happened.
