Guest jurishound
When we adopted Cuffy in February, the family he was bouncing from told us that he had occasional seizures. The "seizures" turned out to be fairly significant trembling and shaking of his head and shoulders, similar to Parkinson's, which seem to occur about once a month. When it first happened, I didn't know what to do other than sit with him and soothe him. The "seizure" went on for about 5 minutes. DD saw all of this, ran to the freezer, got him a frosty paws, grabbed her doll blanket, put the blanket on him and gave him the frosty paws. The seizure stopped, almost instantly. I reported this to the vet, who gave me that look Since then, he has had seven "seizures," and seven frosty paws (or, preferably, yoghunds). On EVERY occasion, the "seizure" has almost instantly stopped. I do believe she's on to something. The most recent "treatment" - of course Stormy gets one, too:

Guest jurishound
Is he chattering? Nope - my girls were "chatterers." His whole head shakes up and down, rather vigorously.
Jiffer
Sounds like Icarus' seizure pattern. As soon as you could get food into him, you could stop the seizure. I eventually learned his tells before hand and would give him something to eat before it started... worked every time. TheFullHouse
Janice is getting excited about Oakley coming home. I'm getting nervous about the trip, but I'm sure she will do fine. Hugs to the Loseys and Bullitt and Pistol. I've got one sibling left to send you for fostering, so chin up .... maybe you'll get to see Sammie sometime soon. Sounds like Icarus' seizure pattern. As soon as you could get food into him, you could stop the seizure. I eventually learned his tells before hand and would give him something to eat before it started... worked every time. Please explain more about Icarus' seizure pattern. (almost sounds like low blood sugar) thanks That's exactly what I was thinking. Low blood sugar immediately popped into my head. It might be worth checking with the vet or even try feeding several small meals a day to keep the blood sugar level and see if the seizures stop all together. nancy14
Whatever works.....As for Stormy...it reminds me of our first greyhound, KC. She had osteo and her leg was amputated. I had ointment to put on her stitches. Major Turn was very concerned that I was putting ointment on KC and not him, so I had a damp rag that I rubbed on his leg. My dogs always get the same and Maj must have felt left out.....so I truly understand why Stormy needs Frosty paws too. Quote From Wisconsin -- It's Nancy, Bob, Carla, June Bug and our newby Skorch.... along with Buffy. She's the little hound that meows. With loving memorials to K.C., Barko and Major Turn -- all playing at the bridge.
