Guest SusanP
But the lab thinks the vet got it all. The weird thing is it was chondrosarcoma, cancer of bone cartiledge, but it was found growing in muscle, which is rare but does not suggest it spread from elsewhere. The vet says it's a slow-growing cancer and not responsive to chemotherapy, but with luck it was an isolated incident. Wheaw...I think? Guest SusanP
Does anyone know if a blood test could tell us if there is cancer elsewhere in her body? I'll ask the vet Thurs when she gets her staples out...but I can't stop wondering if this somehow spread from a more traditional tumor in cartledge somewhere else. Doesn't sound like treatment options would be terrific if this kind of cancer were elsewhere--since chemo isn't useful for this, but I'd want to know so we don't let her suffer without our realizing anything's going on. I'm probably panicking needlessly, but having just lost our Simon, this has me a bit rattled the more I think about it...
