  1. Thank you Patti, yes, we plan on bringing her! Can't wait! Oh thank you! They have her color listed as White & Blue so I think the patch is blue. She has little dots on the back of her earsies that I didn't even notice until I got her home last night, I've always loved that!
  2. Seven LONG years, two months, four days, three hours and thirty-five minutes before we !!! Please meet Pixie Ann, Callie's new baby sister! NK Mary Ann We just picked her up last night!

  4. What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul. I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious boy. Watch over your family Carrier until you meet again.
  5. How tragic, that such a beautiful woman whose life was spent helping others is lost. It makes me physically sick, such a senseless act for nothing! Knowing that the worthless piece of ** monster who did this will rot in hell is not enough.
  6. I am so very sorry to hear of your girl's diagnosis. Yes I would amputate for a 9 year old, especially if it hadn't spread to her lungs. My girl is 9 and I would do this in a heartbeat if faced with this decision.

    Allie Girl

I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful girl Allie. Time marches on, but the pain remains.
  11. I think exercise is very important ~ it won't cure it, but the point is to slow the progression of the disease. Kodi does not do well in our house as we have no rugs... we try and put down things in his usual spots, but of course he has a funny knack about being in the very spot where there is not a rug or bed. He does very well on grass and pavement.
  12. I just saw your title and clicked on it thinking that sounds like what our dog has ~ Kodi was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy about 2 months ago. I have contacted the doctor in FL and he put me in touch with a support group ~ DM Support Group Forum We take Kodi every Monday night to hydrotherapy ~ he has steadily increased his walking time from 12 minutes and is up to 22 minutes as of last night. This video is an old video from his second week ~ he's doing much better now (he had his 6th treatment last night) ~ We bought some custom boots from Therapaws ~ Therapaws Dorsi-Flex Assistive Wrap ~ if you notice the dog "Tango" featured on the page also has Degenerative Myelopathy. Please feel free to contact me at my email link for any reason. Kim
  13. Oh please let us know tomorrow how Kebo is tomorrow, I'll be thinking of him and you! Kebo is one sore pup...six teeth gone. I think he only has one or two incisors left. He was pretty stoned last night but today he seems to be back to his old self again. He is loving the soft diet he has to be on for the next week. Kebo before Kebo's offerings to the tooth fairy This was our first time with this vet and I am so pleased. She met with me earlier in the week to discuss my worries and draw preop labs. As soon as the dental was over, she called to give me a full report. Even better, the bill was about half the cost of a dental at my vet in Florida. She gets an A+ in my book! Oh my, gentle smooches to Kebo. Callie hasn't gotten anything from the tooth fairy yet, but I'll let her pick up something next week at Rescued Racers' picnic. If the tooth fairy would put something under Callie's pillow, her little sister July would steal it I'm sure. Kebo's vet sounds a lot like Callie's vet ~ I can't say the bill was low, but maybe it was for the amount she had done?? ($438.00) The vet always tries to find ways for us to take care of our kids and save us money ~ such as we tried Kodi on a new medication and we just got a couple weeks worth from the vet because she wanted to make sure he could handle it. If so, she said she would give me a presciption so I could order online because it was expensive from the vet. She gives me presciptions with no problem for our cat so I can order her fluids online. Thank you. Yes the vet cut into it and said that it appears to be only fat ~ she said she would send it to the lab, but didn't think it was anything. The stitches look good today, slightly red with no oozing or anything. She seems to have left them alone today, no licking.
  14. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! I was able to see the vet when I checked Callie in. She kept telling me not to worry, but she understands because she is my child. She said she does greyhounds all the time, and she knows all the worries about the anesthesia thing, they are monitored constantly by machines and humans, etc... The sty that was on her eye was completely gone (not sure if I mentioned that in my first post), she even looked up in the computer to see where it was. She said she would check it out while she is under to make sure it's gone. (IT WAS!) The vet called when she was out of surgery ~ she said Callie was nervous (me too!) so she took her first. She lost two teeth, a front one (which never would get white ~ I thought at her last dental she mentioned that it may of been from antibodys in her mother's milk or something ), but anyway she pulled that one - it's one of those little teeth on the top, but to the side. She said that from the gum around it, it looks like it could of been hurting her. She said it looked like wood... and my mind immediately thought of George Washington. The other small tooth way in the back (a wisdom?). She said Callie did fine during surgery. She threw off some PVC's (but said that is normal in greyhounds ?) and they gave her lidocaine and she didn't have another one. She was still groggy, but resting comfortably. She took the lump off her chest and said she cut it open and it looks to be fat. She said she doesn't think it needs to be sent off to the lab, but she could if I wanted. I didn't. I had the absolute WORST DAY at work, and I wanted to sneak out a bit early to get her, but ended up leaving late. Everything that could go wrong, did (although I will put up with that if I got a good report back about Callie). I didn't pick up my girlie until almost 5pm. I paid the bill and they had her tooth in a plastic bag (how sweet! ) Ack, it's long and red... ! They brought Callie out and I guess I didn't expect her to be so out of it! She had thick drool hanging out of her mouth, her eyes were all glassy, she looked so pitiful. Everyone standing there waiting to pick up their pet said, "Awwwwww." She was walking really slow and I had to boost her in the car. She laid down and I kept worrying something happened, because she is usually more active in the back seat. I had to help her out of the car when we got home and once inside, she had all this thick yellowish bloody drool coming from her mouth. My mom is feaking out asking over and over is she ok. I took her to our bedroom and tried to lift her on our bed, but she jumped herself. I was trying to calm down telling myself that it is only about 5 hours after surgery and she had a lot done. Once she laid down I looked at her stitches, wow, I never expected them to be so long! I got her settled on the bed and she slept comfortably. The dogs (especially July) were real sweet with her... July was really gentle (that is AMAZING!!) and was licking her ears. I laid down with her and was out like a light! I am happy to report that Miss Callie is pretty much back to normal today. She ate a good breakfast and is just lounging about, like any other day. She is on antibiotics, I think we go back in 2 weeks to get stitches out and as I am typing this I just notice that she starting to lick them so we will see about that! Thanks again all for thinking of Callie ~ I cant tell you how much that helped me! I am sorry this is so wordy! A couple pics of Callie from last night. p.s. I got the dental vaccine for her and now am worried. I will be watching her like a hawk and thinking every out of the ordinary thing is a reaction.
  15. I hope Miss Daisy sleeps peacefully though the night and wakes up to her mom's smiling face. I hope this is the solution to your sweet girl's problems. Prayers and healing thoughts coming for Daisy and her worried mom.
  16. Thank you all. I'm just so nervous about the anesthesia. We went and had the pre-op bloodwork done on Monday night. I will just be a wreck tomorrow. I will drop her off on the way to work and then wait for the vet to call... I know I won't get any work done. Our vet is pretty good and she knows how much I worry. I will get to talk to her when I drop Callie off, so I will go over my fears again. Oh please let us know tomorrow how Kebo is tomorrow, I'll be thinking of him and you! He and Callie can compare shiny teefers!
  17. My sweet Callie is going in for a dental tomorrow and also getting a growth (lump) removed from her chest (right between her front legs). It has grown from the size of a dime to the size of a half a golf ball. It is soft and moves and the vet acted like it was no big deal and she could take it off while Callie is under. She is 9 years old. To say I am a nervous wreck is an understatement! Please pray my baby girl comes through alright. I am so scared! Here's my nosey girl and her sister July watching mom takes some pics this evening.
  18. This sounds like a bit of bright news! Many prayers coming from MO for your sweet girl Carly and her worried family too!
  19. Oh gosh, I can't imagine how hard it was to leave your baby there for two weeks, but I think I would of made the same decision. They sound wonderful at OSU, willing to work with you and put your boy first, so that should give you some peace of mind. It sounds like he is in very capable hands and that is so greyt that he can live with the vet student instead of the kennel. I know when we have had to leave one of our guys at the vet school in Columbia, MO, the students kept in constant touch with us, updating us along the way. While it wasn't easy leaving them, it's such a relief to hear constant updates. Sounds like you have one week down, just one to go. How far is OSU from your house? Prayers that this new treatment works on Bodie and prayers that your week flies by for your family and your boy is back home! Oh and thank you to Bodie and your big part in this fight against this hideous disease!!
  20. Wow, what a cutie pie!!! So glad he is home and he looks good!! I was so worried about him and you! You are doing a wonderful job with him!
  21. Oh I'm so happy Johnny is home with you!! This is the best news I've heard all day, all month!! Johnny!!!
  22. Oh no, thank goodness that you were there and could get him help right away. Many prayers still coming for your sweet boy that he is able to come home soon. I know how worried you are, I keep checking in for updates!. Hope you get some encouraging news today! Johnny!!
  23. This is one of my biggest fears! We have had two dogs with bloat. The first PJ, I didn't know what was going on. She had the surgery and survived, but died the next afternoon from arrythmias?? She never really did wake up. I know a part of me died that day. I keep thinking if I had a greyhound then and been on GT and other grey lists, would it of made a difference because I probably would of turned here right away. The second was Kodi and only because of PJ did I know what was happening. I was hoping I was wrong, but took him to the emergency clinic just to ease my mind. After what was an eternity because I couldn't get a muzzle on him and they wouldn't take x-rays without (I was frantic because I know time is of the essence!) a nice vet came out and told me that they would shut his leash in the door and give him a shot to sedate him from behind (or something like that). He did have bloat, had the surgery and was discharged within a day and a half because he was such a bad patient. This was the day Kodi came home... good thing for Callie because she wouldn't go potty without him because they are BFF! My husband's partner July also has had bloat, but before she came to us. She has had her stomach tacked (is that the term), but I am still worried about it happening again. She is a wild one!
  24. Keep checking back too! MANY MANY PRAYERS for Johnny and you too!
  25. That is beautiful Meredith. I just don't understand how such a beautiful young vibrant woman can just be gone so suddenly?? Prayers and peace for her husband, animals and many friends who knew and loved her. What a tremendous loss for the world tonight.
