  1. I understand I feed fresh frozen portion that I give still frozen to the pups in the yard (so not green tripe during the winter months )
  2. I give Abbey and Otis x-large Himalayan chew this week-end Abbey loves it! she chew on it for 2 hours on Saturday, got about 1.5 inch off.. give her again on Sunday and she seems to know more how to chew it and she got about 1 inch off in 1 hour of chewing... No side-effects! poop is normal Otis is not impress and did not even want to eat it!!! So Abbey will get a second one when she finish hers
  3. I'm thinking of getting Himalayan chew for Otis and Abbey... what's your experiences with this? any digestive problems after? softer poop? Do they really last long? do they brake easy? can they be a choking hazard? (that's my phobia). what size do you buy? Otis and Abbey are raw fed, I give meaty bones to Otis he is a good chewer but Abbey is not, she is a glutton and I'm afraid she might not chew enough..
  4. Let's talk stud tail.. Otis have this and it seems that the bald spot is growing bigger this winter (too cold??) Tell me your personal experience with this and how you succeed to heal this and make fur grow back. Many info out there.. wash with soap and water daily, put coconut oil, put Ox10 (zit remedy), put neosporin... what worked for your hound?? Thanks!
  5. it would have been your 13th bday today.. I would have made you a nice cake and you would have fun trying to get your celebration hat off your head... you probably had something to do with how Abbey arrived in our home.. her little face looks so much like yours.. Her and Otis help my heart to heal from your lost. The first greyhound will always have a special meaning. love you big boy, always.
  6. we tried to a lot of things to get him used to this sound (it's his 3rd winter reacting like that). Closing the door of the bedroom makes it worst since he will scratch the doors with his paws and start crying to get out.. Interacting with him does nothing since he his completely shut down, wont listen or take treats. we tried ignoring his behavior but he can pant-whine and walk for 45 minutes-1 hour in the house before laying back on his bed (and it starts all over if the heater clicks again). we will try a white noise machine this week to see if it could help..
  7. each winter we experience this situation with Otis; he is afraid of the clicking noises the electrical wall heaters are making at night... When it clicks he will wake up, walk out of the bedroom and start panting and walking around the house whining... in panic mode.. Rescue Remedy does help a little but not that much... We tried nutricalm last winter and it made it 50% better... I was thinking of trying Anxitane this winter.. Anyone have experiences with this pills? (maybe this post should have been in the medical and health section..sory)
  8. so sorry that Bryndel react like that. Don't have any info to give you, but thank you to have share this!
  9. It was a 10 ounces container.. around 7-8 ounces was in it.. Update 24 hours after eating the bag balm; things are back to normal. The poop was firmer. End of this adventure... I guess Abbey wanted to make sure I had a memorable birthday LOL
  10. Abbey slept downstairs last night, on the old sofa (covered with old blankets). No mess...she is very excited this morning since she skip yesterday evening meal. at the walk this morning. she did 1 poop.. a lot less greasy then yesterday..just soft... she got to eat her breakfast (she was really happy!) and now she is sleeping... hopping things will be going better now (I guess Abbey just wanted to make sure I had a fun birthday yesterday lol)
  11. this is not funny (: ) Updates post evening walk 1 huge greasy pile of poop (good think I went for the walk in the "woods" near the bicycle path! did not even think of picking-it up! OMG)... had to put Abbey in the bathtub arriving home to get her butt clean-up..one thing for sure; her butt will be well moisturized lol Now she wants her supper..DH don't want to feed her yet.. it will be a long evening/night... she is farting crazy... and her butt is "leaking" greasy I put old blankets on her bed and the sofa (old sofa)... she will sleep on the first floor tonight... no access to hour bed for sure!!
  12. and Abbey has 3 kongs to play with!!
  13. Just call the vet, there's NO emergency, nothing toxic. She will probably get diarrhea OR not... that thing is just grease... I also called the bag balm company and they said the same thing..
  14. need your help! Abbey just ate a container of bag balm!!! (must have been half to 3/4 full). anyone has a hound that did that too??? what should I expect??? explosive diarrhea?? in how many hours?? anything I could give her??? she ate it between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm... it's 2:45pm now, just got back home and saw this.. nothing wrong for now..she seems ok. thanks!!
  15. Aye-Aye Captain Jack! Glad you made it to the white north ok! I'm Otis and my grand-Pa was Flying Penske on my daddy side Welcome to your forever home! Now you have to learn all the ropes of retirement! Little sister Abbey says she really like your spots.
  16. I started Allerderm on Abbey and after 2 treatments we already see the difference.
  17. UPDATE Abbey is herself again (read energetic and crazy). went to the vet this evening. After examination he thinks that there's definitely no fracture since he can manipulate the shoulder and shoulder blade, so no need to do xray. It was a big contusion and soreness.
  18. is x-raying of the scapula a little different then for the shoulder?
  19. I would want to do an xray to see what's going on.. but we need anesthesia for doing a shoulder blade xray.. position is not comfortable and not natural the vet said.. my vet knows about greyhound and anesthetics (he is a doberman owner)... but this scares me a lot..
  20. (moving the topic up, hopping that some Gters have experience with this and could share it) updates: The pills are working and Abbey is feeling better but we have to restrain her activities.. she still limps a little (not a leg limp it's really a limp from a shoulder pain)... on palpation it seems less painful. We are seeing the vet again on Thursday.
