  1. Willow had her 3rd. acupuncture appt. this past week. We were hoping it would help with her incontinence problems.

It hasn't seem to help with that, but I believe she feels a lot better overall. She went once a week for 3 weeks.

We will be going to every other week, the next visit in 2 weeks

My vet charges $40. per visit. If you by 3 at one time it was $105.

She had one visit per week for 3 weeks. The theory is that if it's going to help, you should see some improvement in 3 visits.

Then you can either go on a maintenance schedule or just when you feel they need a visit.

  2. I'm posting this for a friend of mine. Her GH Doug has been diagnosed with dementia:

Doug has been tentitively diagnosed with "dementia". He is having trouble remembering when to eat, when to wake up, and sometimes common phrases. Sometimes he goes into a room and seems to forget why he is there and whines and stares into nothing.

Does anyone have any experience with this and the drugs used to treat/help with this? He will be 11 in 2 months.

Anyone here have any experience with this?

Poor Doug is one of those GH's that has one medical issue after another. :( :( :(

He has helped us at M&G's, is a registered therapy dog and had just started his reading therapy work.

  3. It might not be ringworm, but maybe bug bites. I know during black fly season here, if my dogs get bit by black flies, they will get red circles. It will only show up on their stomachs where they have little to no hair.

I know the frustration with dealing with worms. My current foster first had round worms, those took 6 weeks and multiple doses of wormers to get rid of. Then it was hook worms for a couple of weeks.

  4. Thank you everyone! Even though it's been almost a year since I lost Carrie, she is still near & dear to my heart, as I'm sure everyone here can relate to, having a Grey in their life at one time or another! Especially being as she was my first Grey. And, Diane4114, the Portsmouth M&G is actually the one I usually go to! That one & also Manchester is one I frequent as well. I've been on the GPA-CNHC forum for a little while now, I recognize you from there! I don't know if we've met, I've volunteered with both last year's & this year's parade in Concord as well as going to a few meet & greets. Thanks for getting back to me about the photo, I'll look into it!

I go to the Ports. one, but not usually until @ 1 PM. I very rarely go to the parade, it's usually the same Sat. as Ports. Petco.

  5. Thank you! Just a quick question, I posted a photo, but I noticed it's not showing on the left of my posting, by my name. How can I get it to show there?

Welcome, glad you were able to make it.

As for the photo, there are some features that aren't immediately available, PM's are one of them.

If you use the support button on the top of the page, it will take you to a support ticket. Those little pictures ( avatars) can only be done ( I think) by a GT moderator.

I see you live in Durham. We have M&G's on the 3rd Sat. of the month at Portsmouth Petco.

Also starting in Jan, we are also at the Kennel Shop in Sanford, Me. on the second Sunday of the month. Stop by sometime if you are out and about.

    Sorry about Carrie. :(

It's to bad you aren't able to adopt. My current foster should probably be an only dog. ;)

  6. Last year in Feb. I lost Austin. His outward signs illness came on suddenly, although he must of had this heart tumor for a while.

This week his picture is featured in the CG desk top calendar. I had submitted the picture a couple of weeks previous.

Austin...we all miss you...and hope you are doing well now.

I hope you have been there to greet Robb, Lindsey, Finbar, Nellie and so many others.

  7. I'm posting for Laurie ( Beltane) and her husband Michael.

Today I received another email, and was asked to post here, as they are just devastated. This time from Laurie ( Beltane here) and Michael that today their beloved Nellie would be crossing the bridge to join so many others. They had received the devastating news just 2 weeks ago that she had osteo and her time was coming. Today they made the hardest and most loving decision, to let Nellie be whole again and pain free. She was their 3rd failed foster. A little white girl with a big personality. When Laurie would get up for an early morning stroll to the pond, Nellie was the one who would be up to join her, the others in GH fashion would want to sleep in. She and her sister Winter joined Laurie and Michael on their first Dewey trip. She was so intrigued by the ocean, not wanting to leave. She had to carried away by Michael! She had just turned 7 in July and lived with them for 3 short years. This is never easy, but losing your first is the hardest.

I have pictures to post...but the site is not co-operating.

Run free sweet Nellie. I'm sure Austin was there to greet you.
