  1. And we are back home from our vacation near the North Sea. We rented a small cottage with a big fully fenced yard (6000 square metres) for the greyts and us. The cottage is named Haus Windhund (Sighthound House) and it fits it's name to a t. We had a wonderful time, even with heavy rain and storm for the last 2 days.

  2. Air Andy!

What is the weather like near the North Sea in March? The grass looks so green -- here it is still brown.

Normally it would still be winter, eventually with ice and snow. But this year it is unusually warm. 10°c and sunny.

Actually it is way to warm for this time of year. But the greyts enjoy their vacation immensly. So - who am I to complain...

  3. I don't know what to say...

  4. My sister's boss is a greyt man. He doesn't have a greyhound of his own (yet) but he offered to let us use his company's full fenced complex whenever nobody is working. The hounds can roam the whole area. There is even a small lake on the property. We can park the cars inside, close the gates and let the fun begin.

Here are some pics from Saturday's play date.

  5. Since I discovered how to post videos you, my friends from all around the world, are doomed... 😉

Between two hailstorms I took the greyts for a nice walk in the woods. The sandy ground is just perfect for 13 year old Andy to walk on. Here he isn't bothered to much by his lumbosacral stenosis or his laryngeal paralysis.

I wanted to share this because I love him to bits. My sweet old boy.

  6. I am the technic grinch. But after just a few years I created a YouTube channel for my greyhounds. Please take a look at my first attempt of posting a video. And yes, I already realized holding my cell phone sideways will be better (so please be kind).

  7. What is this Alumina?

I googled and nothing came up in English...

Alumina is a homeopathic remedy that is often used to treat symptoms of alzheimers disease and dementia. But it also helps with neurological issues which are related to old age like stiff or unsteady gait, loss of feeling or slack muscles.

You can find it on amazon.

  8. I started Andy (nearly 13) on alumina c200 which is a homeopathic remedy. He got 3 little globules in Friday morning and on our Saturday midday walk he started running to catch up when he was distracted by an interesting scent.

Due to his lumbosacral stenosis and laryngeal paralysis he always walks off lead. He couldn't really trot and definitely not run anymore. And now this. He walks much faster, can get up much better and seems clearer in his brain (like somehow his thoughts are less cloudy).

    Picture just because.
  9. The idea is to increase the nerves' ability to transport information. So we started with nux vomica c1000. He gets 1 dose per year. Every week he gets conium c30 and hypericum c30. Every day he gets onsior 40mg in the morning and gelsemium LM06 with his meals twice a day. He also gets St. Johns Wort which is the common name for hypericum as tea leeves on his foot.

Hypericum is known to help with nerve damages and even able to heal damaged nerve cells.

Once a week he gets his laser session. I don't know the english name of the points so I will give you the original chinese names. You can look them up.

    (Yao) Bai Hui

    Dazhui

    Tianzhu

    Dazu

    Hegu

    Houxi

    Waiguan

I use a Biolas 6 for 6 minutes on each point.

For kidney issues look up suc therapy by Heel. It works great with no side effects

  10. We are having the same issue with Andy. The problem is that the nerves are no longer functioning correctly. As a firm believer in a combination of holistic and normal (by lack of other word) therapy I have him on 40 mg Onsior every morning and on a different variety of homeopathic remedies and herbs and oil.

He also gets weekly laser acupuncture. I bought my own laser and learned how to work it.

Andy will be 13 next month and we are from 15 minutes walks last year at this time to 90 minutes walks (only in cold weather because he has laryngeal paralysis, too).

I can explain our therapy plan if you or someone else is interested.
