  1. Thank you guys. I feel way better today. I even accompanied hubby, Andy, Paddy and Saoirse in their morning walk. I thought I'll take Andy because a) he walks off lead and b) he is old and due to his illness not that fast anymore. What happened? Today the old man decided to do zoomies on the soccer field. Poor me had to walk 2/3 of the way all by myself 😭😭😭 😁

I'm so happy he felt well enough for a little running.

  2. I'm at home after stomach surgery. Sleeping on the sofa when my big lump of bones called Paddy decided that the best way for me to heal properly is him climbing on me, plopp down and instantly fall asleep.

Greyt idea. I appreciate that you tried to make me feel better but.... that was not the most stellar idea of the big blue.

No worries. Everything is still fine.

Picture just because Paddy is my sweet babybear.

  3. You can imagine how terrified I was when hubby called me at work. My little girl gone missing and a severe storm starting to brew. She came home just as the first drops of rain started to fall.

I can't imagine what triggered her behaviour but she went into the woods behind our house where we always walk. Good thing that she stays away from roads because she is a little afraid of moving cars.

  4. Yesterday saw the most surreal greyhound experience in the last 12 years of greyhound ownership. Saoirse was fast asleep in her bed in the living room. Suddenly she jumped up, raced into the yard, jumped the gate and was gone. All that happened in the blink of an eye.

2 hours later (after calling the police, Tasso...) my husband went out for one last time before it got to dark and she just appeared next to him looking for a treat and than went home with him.

She is a little scraped and bruised from jumping a gate that is way to big for a dog that can't jump into the car. But otherwise she is fine.

This is Andy. He is 13 years old and suffers from laryngeal paralysis and lumbosacral stenosis. He was diagnosed with both one year ago. He was barely able to walk and had a horrible raspy breath. This picture was taken 2 weeks ago.To keep him going he is on a strict plan that includes pain meds, homeopathy, herbs, oils, acupuncture, reiki and physiotherapy.

Andy gets onsior 40mg every morning with his food. I also add gelsemium and alumina.

In the evening he gets St. Johns Wort, melissa and gingko as herbs in his meal and again gelsemium and alumina. I also add rice bran oil to keep his muscles. He also gets keltican which is a vitamin b complex for spine issues, neuralgia etc.

Every 2 weeks he has an appointment with his physio and reiki lady.

I bought a laser to do acupuncture once a week.

He takes his walks for at least 30 minutes (on bad days) and up to 1,5 hours on good days - slowly but steadily. He mostly walks off lead due to the lp.

Every once in a while he gets nux vomica to increase his nerve cells' ability to transport information.

Talk to a holistic vet, too. Mine was able to help Andy way more than his regular one. But I combine both methods.

  6. :)

Looks very much like some of the conservation areas we have here, with nice walking trails and boardwalks over the wetter spots.

I imagine it's quite a lovely place once the foliage is in full bloom.

Do you get mosquitos in the summer?

Mosquitos? Oh yes. They will eat you alive. We only walk there when it is to cold for them.

  7. Have you tried laser therapy? The nerves may be sending wrong information to the brain (it's the best I can describe in english) and even a light touch can feel like pain. I had this problrm myself after cancer surgery.

My doc did 1 session of laser therapy to debug the nerves and it worked. In addition I took hypericum as homeopathic remedy which is known to be able zo even heal damaged nerve cells.

With my older dogs I just add hypericum (St. Johns Wort) as tea leaves to their food. You can add melissa, too which acts anti-inflammatory.
