  1. The lady in charge of the adoption group when I adopted my first greyhound gave me some great advice. "Whatever anyone tells you on how to raise your dog remember one thing. He's YOUR dog. Do whatever makes you and him happy."
  2. I played and Nando came running, ears pricked up like radar dishes. He looked under the computer desk and tried to look behind the monitor. Then he looked at me and started whining. Then a couple of small roo's, the first I've heard from him except when he's sleeping. He had a very concerned look on his face.
  3. Dogs are smart. Nando gets excited when he sees me putting on a T-shirt and jeans because he knows he has a good chance of going somewhere. However when he sees me putting on a shirt and tie he lays on his bed and mopes because he knows he's nor going anywhere.
  4. Nando will lay on his bed and start licking his feet, proceed to lick the bed and end up licking the carpet before falling asleep.
  5. My first greyhound, Wink, was a shy boy who was afraid of everything. He showed no affection and I was sure he hated me. It took several months for him to come out of his shell, and over a year to bond with me. But eventually he became the best dog I ever had. My current hound, Nando, has been an unruly hound from day one. He was bounced around a couple of times before I got him and we hit it off immediately. He gets into everything. Recently he has started playing tug of war with my pants as I am trying to get dressed, and running off with my socks. He's so cute when he's in that playful mood.
  6. Nando will roo only in his sleep. I've tried rooing at him but all he does is jump up and try to lick my face. He is a prolific barker though. When I come home I can here him barking as soon as I get out of the car. The doorbell and telephone will also set him off.
  7. Nando's favorite food is Paws Premium. It's a bargin basement food and its ingredients read like sweepings from a flour mill floor, but it gives him poops I can pick up with tongs.
  8. I dropped a piece of fried chicken on the floor and Nando was on it before Speedy Gonzales could blink. He had no problems.
  9. Wow, are you sure the local zoo isn't missing a tiger? Wow! Are you sure the local zoo isn't missing a tiger?
  10. I've had Nando for a year and a half and he still busts his butt in the kitchen nearly every day. It doesn't bother him any. He still comes running everytime someone rustles the bread bag.
  11. Nando got his stitches out yesterday and aside from a few leftover scabs he is all healed up. He's going to have a scar though that's OK. He's a pet not a show dog!
  12. My boy caught a cat. I saw the cat in the yard as soon as I opened the door. Before I could blink he was out the door. The cat never had a chance to move before he was in Wink's mouth. Wink was shaking the cat like a rag doll by the time I grabbed his collar and made him turn it loose. The cat ran off but left a lot of fur in the yard. I didn't see any skin or blood so I think the cat survived. Wink just looked at me as if to say, "What did I do?"
  13. I use Triflexis. The only problem I have is Nando refused to take it. I have to break it up and hide in his food. Still he manages to leave a few pieces in his bowl.
  14. Nando's tail is only 12 inches long. Does that make him a stud tail? :-)
  15. Nando went to the vet yesterday to get the drain tube removed. There is no infection and he is doing OK. He still wants to run. Can't wait until he gets the stitches out next week.
  16. I caught Nando scratching at it so I dispensed with the cone (Much to Nando's relief!) And he is now wearing one of my old T shirts. He still wants to run. When I put the leash on him in the back yard he starts pulling and bucking trying to run. I don't know what's worse for his wound, the pulling and bucking or running free?
  17. Now the only I can access Greytalk is with my Blackberry and over the air only. No wifi. Computers at home and at work will not access Greytalk.
  18. Now my Blackberry works and my home computer doesn't. Also my Blackberry will not work on my home wireless.
  19. I am receiving 503 errors from my Blackberry. IP address 192.168.1.3 No problems with my home computer.
  20. Fernando came home yesterday afternoon with a lot of stitches, a drain tube and a lamp shade. And I am $400 poorer (so far). The vet told me to keep him quiet, no running for 2 weeks. Oh really? This morning at 4 AM he wanted to go out. The first thing we saw when I opened the door was a rabbit in the middle of the yard. So much for no running. I thought he was going to tear the stitches out. I guess I'll have to leash him in the yard now. By the way, he hates the lamp shade.
  21. Fernando is in the hospital. He will have surgery today to close a wound he received last night. He was doing his nightly zoomies and ran into something and ripped his skin. I checked the yard this morning and found some black hair on a door that had blown off the storage building. We've had a lot of wind the last few days. I've got to be more careful with my backyard. The vet said he should be fine. She sees this all the time with greyhounds.
  22. My first greyhound Wink was terrified of the vacuum cleaner. Even if it was turned off, he couldn't be in the same room with it. However, he wasn't afraid of the lawn mower at all. He would sleep in the sun in the back yard while I was mowing the grass. When I got to him he wouldn't move. If I didn't physically move him, there would be a greyhound shaped area of uncut grass in my yard!
  23. Nando will sit automatically on sighting me with a caramel creme.
  24. Nando will cough and gag and carry on after drinking and eating sometimes. I've had him for over a year and he still does it. It doesn't seem to bother him. He just clears his throat and continues eating and drinking.
