  1. I pop into my vet and do it, they showed me how to operate the scale. There's no charge (at least, not at MY vet).
  2. Not sure if you're old enough for the reference.... "How do YOU spell relief?". Congratulations!
  3. Welcome from the Great White North! You may enjoy my dog as much as you wish! LOL!
  4. Awwww. My thoughts are with you. And I know what you mean about being caught by DH mid-blubber and hating that you spilled it. Been there, done that.
  5. Rather than paying attention to the whole bloat controversy, I just decided to go with comfort and boy, she sure is more comfy not having to do the giraffe imitation to eat from the floor. So... for that alone... I use a raised feeder.
  6. Well, I started it last night (3mg). I'm hoping it works, especially in time for her September 8 photo shoot! Although I know that's asking a bit much, it would be nice to be able to have "rear angle" shots.
  7. I am so sorry for your father, I also lost mine this year so I know how it feels. And I'm so happy that your boy is strong and healthy! -- that must make you feel so relieved! Scritches!
  8. I don't know where you're located... but I buy the pouches for when Summer is travelling, be it for a day trip or longer. I get them from Zehr's/Loblaws and it's their house brand. They come in a box of 12. In a pinch, I'll buy the Beneful trays. As a poster above said, they are like a stew. They smell pretty good! Our local PetValu pet store also sells a wonderful canned food in a smaller can which is a good size for a grey. I don't remember the brand but you can get some really fun stuff like venison. It's $3 or $4 for each can, though.
  9. My previous dog had what I called a "tender stomach". If she didn't get fed twice a day with a bedtime snack, I had the gurgling problem and she would vomit nasty, yellow bile and be miserable. So with my houndie, since I'm already pre-trained with the two meals and the snack, I'm just carrying on the practice and no problems so far. My personal theory is... humans wouldn't like only one meal a day, either... You'd be starving by bedtime and would probably wake up in the middle of the night with hunger cramps. So... two meals a day and a bedtime snack is what we do.
  10. Wow! Summer has a bald belly (with an improving case of belly blackheads) and bald spots on her butt and thighs. I would like like to try this "melatonin". I see online that you can buy it in tablet form in the stores in the section for people vitamins. Is this what everyone is using?
  11. I use Revolution but it's the same thing. With more practice, you'll not get so much on the fur. The idea is to part the hairs and apply to the skin below. You don't want to get the fur all yucked up, then you are wasting some of the dose. Although you will always get SOME on the fur. The little oily spot will be dry to the touch in a couple of hours and will be crispy feeling for the rest of the day.
  12. Summer's were about a month old when I had them removed and there were absolutely no problems. Same discovery -- running my hands under and going "what the heck is that?" Hope all goes just as well for you and your pup!

    John

Oh no! My heart weeps for you and for sweet sweet John.
  14. Someone suggested to take a cool wet cloth and put it between the hind legs when they are lying down on their sides (you know where... with Kevin, it would be on his "business", LOL). I haven't tried it yet but she said that with her dog, she can wring hot feeling water out of the cloth after 5 minutes.
  15. My deepest, heartfelt sympathy. The house may echo with silence... but the Bridge is bursting with doggy laughter and lots of fun! And where Sassy was welcomed with open paws.
  16. I was wondering about this myself. My range is a brand new Electrolux and the main oven even has a Dehydrate setting! I was warned, though, that dehydrating some of this stuff is a bit smelly... and a table-top dehydrator can be operated outside or in the garage... where the smells don't matter.
  17. Hey, ChasesMum... that bowl that you like? You can buy it from Ren's in Aberfoyle, ON. I saw them there with my very own eyes! They will ship their stuff and they have online shopping (although I've never explored it). They are at www.renspets.com.
  18. is lovin' the summer, both my dog and the season!

  19. I would PM "kjw" on this forum, at Camp Greyhound just north of Toronto. She both makes and sells greyhound-safe mosquito repellent.
  20. IMHO, irregularly shaped new growths need to be looked at asap. I can't tell if they are also irregularly colored but that would be another red flag.
  21. That's wonderful! My previous dogs (non-grey) were area trained and all our dogs when we were kids were also area trained. I have never understood why people don't do it, it's so easy and you never have to worry about ick in your lawn or those unattractive dead spots, LOL. But that being said... I do find my grey is more resistant to being area trained, though, than my other dogs. Guess I'll just have to work harder!
  22. I can't comment much on the shedding, although I have seen a few lately who sound very similar. But I *CAN* recommend the Furminator! I picked one up a couple of weeks ago when my hound started (gracefully) shedding and they are truly WONDERFUL.
  23. Done! I haven't had to deal with the Big C and I hope I never will. My heart goes out to you! Good luck, Flash!
