  1. I can recommend another vet to see or consult with. Dr. Sally Prickett at Iowa State in Ames. She the new Director of the veterinary teaching hospital and she's been hands on with greyhounds for almost 20 years as a track vet so she's seen a whole lot of odd stuff with these guys. Here is her webpage with contact info. sally They have a pretty state of the art facility there and she did tell me that she was looking forward to greyhound people becoming a large part of their clientele (although she was talking mostly about racing greys and their injuries) but I know she'd welcome retired ones too.
  2. What research? Do you know what studies were done? They'd be interesting to read.
  3. I'd like to see the study. How was it conducted and all that.

    Reko Batman

I'm so sorry. Batman will be greatly missed. Everytime I see a little roman nose, he always popped into mind. Many hugs to you and Zema

    Sad News

My deepest sympathies to her family.
  6. I'm so sorry for your loss Jeff.
  7. 9 and 10 are actually fairly old in a breed as large as the greyhound. It's an unfortunate fact that the better care you take of them and the longer they stay around, the higher the chance they will develop opportunistic diseases such as cancer. The bigger and taller the dog, the more prone they are to bone cancer. Extended growth period, rapid growth spurts and bone development, long legs, all contribute to this cancer.

    Chico

I'm so sorry Ann. I know how special he was to you.
  9. KTALIA BINGO FEVER Are you sure that's his racing name. Only 16 letters are allowed and that includes spaces. Bingo has too many
  10. Actually, Fenwick et al, when they had the big conference about it, concluded only that the meat was one of the things the greys all had in common and beef is a common source of e.coli. There was no conclusive recommendation or statement that it was the cause or that the meat was detrimental to the health of the racing greyhound. I'm sure someone has a copy of the report around, if I had it handy, I'd post it
  11. Yep, the * does mean an import. Affordable Smile ran mostly at Bluffs Run in Iowa. An awesome dog and one of the biggest smilers I've ever seen.
  12. A lot of the Switzler dogs run at the Kansas Tracks. Neither are on Rosnet. Although if they were there long enough ago, when they did use Rosnet, that info will show up.
  13. I've had a lot of good luck with it too. Used it on myself too when I sliced my arm and couldn't leave work to get to a doc. Worked pretty well.
