  1. bigger the better,if you have the space. Our group will loan a crate for a month to see if you really need it. If a dog was fostered he may not have been crated even though he was supposed to be. We prefer the hard plastic kennels. Easy to clean, won't rust and dogs feel comfortable with the privacy. You can always throw a cover over open open wire cage. Watch collars and tags getting caught on wires. Some take them off dogs when caged.

  2. About 1 day lol. He got out of the car, watered everything in the yard, walked up 5 steps went to the LR and walked right up on the couch and smiled. Tried to get him to sleep in a kennel ( fostering guidelines) I ended up sleeping on the floor with him for several nights. After 3 weeks he has learned the 14 steps to the bedrooms and the rest will be easy going for his new adoption home, soon.

  3. We have fruit rats because of the orange ,lemon and grapefruit trees in the yard. I keep DECON pellets under the washer and dryer in garage. It works in a few days but the dead smell in the walls will go away in time. They usually leave the property in search of water, anyway. The house is raised off theground so I place the poison under the house also. Dogs can not get under house.

  4. speaking of photos... sorry to side-rail the subject. My new foster had the big D for tooooo many days. After a course of deworm, slowly changing foods nothing worked. Allergy testing proved everything is bad to eat! except Kangaroo and fish. After weeks of antibiotics and some oops in the house, the foster coordinator asked me to describe the output. I shot her a pic and she asked me never to do that again! So, he remains on "Honest Kitchen" for life.

  5. invisible fence will not work with sight hounds. A fast moving dog chasing a stray cat, bunny, bird or other dogs on a walk can run through the field of shock and then be afraid to return,if they do. I have a cyress stockcade fence at 6ft. Just as important is the gate locking system. I have self-closing latches basically for pool security, but I also have a line of sight to each gate when sending the guys out. Won't do any good to have a gate out of sight where a meter reader fails your system or a curious school kid wants to enter your yard.

  6. After 2 months of mush to pick up and most of the time it was straw and cover and walk away fast. The group had blood test for food allergy. No lamb, beef chicken, turkey, venison, milk, rabbit, wheat.and more. He could have was potato, barley liver,CORN! fish and Kangaroo!! The foster coordinator brought by a couple boxes of Honest Kitchen (thrive). After the first 3 days I jumped for joy. I could take up golf with the output. it will be a hard sell to place him with an expensive food bill. The 10# box (you need to reconstitute it) makes 40 pounds. 80 pound skinny boy went through 1 box in 2 weeks. I see the product on line for 60.00/box. As long as the adoptee knows going in and has a yard,no problem IF he can put weight on.

  7. We had a Greyhound BD party for a 12yo. About 18 hounds showed up. The former foster Dad of my hound was sitting on a blanket having a beer when all of a sudden my boy runs across the lawn and starts humping his head. I guess my dog remember him after 2 years or he really wanted a beer. My female standard poodle humps everything......but them she IS a poodle.
