  1. My neighbor complained that my house was unusually dark this Christmas. When she dropped off a swap gift, she was agast...NO TREE! I told her after 67 years of having the biggest tree on the lot, it didn't matter anymore. My heart pup left the planet due to Osteo in the shoulder. I wanted to get him to his 13 birthday in October, but the vet agreed labor Day weekend should be a marker to live for. There are no medals in heaven for prolonging agony. I know he is ok when the new foster went to the basket and pulled out the favorite bear. The stock guy at the store was shelving good ole Gravy Train. This was the only thing he would eat in the last days. I pushed my cart to the side and had a good cry in the car. Vent over . I may put up a tree for New Years!

  2. We pulled 5 dogs from a farm in northwest Florida All in ruff shape. My current foster had 3 rounds of worming including drontal. Still 5+ on testing. We are doing panacur 5 days with Ivermectin . Instructed to do Advantage Multi 2X month. and recheck poop test 12 days. Sadly he tested pos for Bebesia also and doing imidocarb injections . we pulled over 200 ticks off this guy so I'm not surprised

  3. Just picked up a farm dog from N Florida. Got him to the vet ASAP. covered in fleas and ticks. The tech pulled 200 ticks off the ears. He is covered in small open wounds and gobbled 4 cups of food over 1/2 hour. Capstar was given 8AM and then Nexgard before transporting. My 13yo just passed Labor Day weekend and only had 1 or 2 ticks at Sandy Paws. Question! Are these tiny ticks on my kitchen floor dying or moving to higher grounds? After 46 foster hounds , I am starting to rethink this job

  4. We just got comformation of Osteosar in our 12+ male greyhound. Limping 6 weeks ago showed nothing on xray.At 6 weeks a hard lump is noticeable in the shoulder and new xrays shows the growth. He is on tramadol and rymidal. Not a candidate for amp. He could not handle radiation and chemo. I searched this Zoledronic Acid and found it extended the life 16 months of a large breed with tumor in the leg. It's a once a month iv . He has a most severe UTI and it is taking him down fast.

  5. My foster had 1 ear super sensitive. We checked for infection, mites etc. ointments and ear washes never helped. Meets and Greets were always a chance for a nip when he loved to rub up on kids and give kisses. When he went down for a dental I asked the tech to scope the ear. She came up with a stringy thing that looked like floss way down in the canal. He was a return from a family with a 2yo boy who bopped him on the head with plastic toys, hence a nip to the fore head and returned.

  6. Is it possible somebody in the group could loan you an easy dog for companionship for awhile? This may not be the dog for you. I placed a foster who was perfect in my home for about 3 months to a young working couple in a new house . This guy was not kenneled ever and totally ate all their blinds, chewed all the furniture was placed on amitriptaline by their vet. He peed on their bedding. He had a sitter/walker every day. NOTHING worked. He has been back with me for 2 months and a perfect gentleman.

  7. have ASPCA Pet Insurance for 4-5 years now. It increase yearly, but for my 12 year old grey it is 32.00 a month. 100 deductable per year, 80/20 payout on covered claims. Not for routine, vacines or dentals. After having 2 out of the blue incidents from 2 different fosters , I came out pretty good and did not pass the emergency bills on to our group.
