  1. And just like Marble, once I told him he's adopted he has been a handful! no wonder why she likes him!
  2. Apparently there was another litter with the same breeding born in February 2012...so Noah has two sets of litters technically that are "full blooded" with him. When he came in as a foster, his name was "Wow" and he didn't really seem to know it. He seems to get that I'm talking to him when I say Noah, so we'll see how quickly he picks up on it. Now to see how soon before he is okay with me cuddling him...he is very submissive...the girls run rough shod all over him!
  3. So we flunked fostering for the 2nd time in 6 months... Zelda chose Marble...and Marble chose Noah. She has been leaving her b/f statue alone ever since he came as a foster 2 weeks ago. He was born 11/2012 and his dad is Djays Octane...his mom was a gorgeous blue girl, Iruska something (I'll have to look her up). He never raced and is fairly mellow for a pup...and the cat bullies him. I'll have to update my signature again LOL Noah He knows to go running outside to chase the squirrels with the girls. And he has been doing zoomies in the back yard, then runs up on the deck and lets out one bark in Zelda's face to get her to run with him (her being the alpha diva she only likes to run by herself as she wants to be center of attention).
  4. She's gorgeous! And it seems no matter how much you dog proof your house, they always find "something" that you didn't realize you left out. Noah has been doing that to me in the living room...and I've had personal hounds and fosters! LOL
  5. I agree definitely relax. Zelda doesn't have the head tremors, but actually goes all stiff and cannot stay standing, although you can see in her eyes that she isn't totally out of it. It wasn't until I saw her actually convulse that the vets gave me any meds for her as I only saw a seizure once/month and they seemed stress induced. Now with her meds, the seizures are very rare. Before she had her meds, I'd just talk softly and pet her until she came back around...she was usually pretty warm, so she'd go get a drink of water.
  6. Agree! Marble runs out in her tummy warmer, potties and runs right back in. Zelda meanwhile was outside dorking around after pottying...guess she felt good with her jammies on. I had to call her as she stood outside the door (they have a dog door)...goofball. Air temp is 0 here, so I'm sure the windchill is bonechilling right now.
  7. Used it years ago until my boy flared up...didn't know it until a couple years later, but he had Lupus and Dog Chow controlled it. All the high quality/grain free foods flared his Lupus up. Now I use Diamond Naturals...a 40 lb bag is about $30 at Menards/Pet Supplies Plus
  8. Thanks everyone...this is a foster, so I am hoping to train this out of the pup as her new family may not appreciate it. She is actually a very good girl considering how young she is, loves to play and LOVES attention. She gets in line/pushes the others out of the way for her butt massages. That was the first time she has done it to me, although she has given me kisses on the chin like my 2.
  9. I have a question...does anyone know how to keep a dog from nibbling on humans? It's similar to how they nibble on themselves while cleaning. It has only happened once for me and someone else told me it happened as well. I gave an 'no, ut uh' sternly and sent the dog away. TIA
  10. I love harnesses as they don't pull on the dog's neck and Zelda is a spook, while Marble is very timid. I like the option that if need be, I can connect the leash through the harness to the collar if I need the added 'peace of mind' in knowing it'd be that much harder for the girls to slip both the collar and harness. Also, Zelda knows that when I pull out the harness we are either going for a walk or a car ride to somewhere (Marble is still figuring this out). I just feel more comfortable with a harness than a collar
  11. He's handsome, congrats & welcome!
  12. That poor boy, so sorry to hear this.
  13. Shibas are sooo cute! Navy guy brought one back from Japan a couple of years ago. I plan to go to Japan to see him...if the distance is correct that I found, you actually aren't that far from him.
  14. Agreed that you have to be confident as you are 'alpha/pack leader' and they learn from you and any other pets you may have in the house. Zelda is a bit of a spook/nut still, although she was much more so when adopted. I have to be confident with her and with the foster I have who is very timid. The day after adopting my first grey, he did the statue....my now ex b/f picked him up, carried him off the porch and set him on the ground....he NEVER statued again! Navy guy's pup tried statuing on me (honestly she's like 20 lbs)...so I'd pick her up, carry her about 10 feet and put her down...if she could talk, man the names she would have called me!
  15. Sorry for your loss Pam, sending lots of hugs and prayers.
  16. Welcome back! What base are you near?
  17. Welcome! And I'm sure any number of groups have seniors that you could add to your pack. And bless you for taking in the pups when they needed you to.
  18. Thanks! Will start Zelda and the new foster on it when it gets here, 1 teaspoon a day.
  19. Thanks all...Zelda can be a picky eater (she takes after me)...but since I'm trying to improve my health using essential oils, and I'm going to try to eat better and use the coconut oil, I was thinking it wouldn't hurt to try her with the coconut oil. If she doesn't like it, then I can still use it LOL
  20. How much coconut oil do you give your greys? I just ordered a jar from Amazon and I'm going to use it myself as well. TIA
  21. Yep...or put a stool cup on the muzzle
  22. From what I saw last night when I joined, HP has an online form, or at least you can get the form through your online account. Not sure about the other companies, but HP lets you upload a picture of each pet. kinda corny/kinda cute.
  23. Well I just signed up with Healthy Paws for Zelda and Carmel...I looked at VPI and Trupanion as well. Now to get Zelda in for a vet visit by this weekend and her medical records sent over to them to see what they will/will not cover with her. I had emailed them and they sent a very nice response. After losing Pop in February to osteo (2 1/2 weeks after diagnosis...I think it had spread too much, especially after seeing the x-ray that I don't even think full blown treatment would have saved him) and losing Mousey to lymphoma in Dec 2010 (at the age of 8!), I will feel better about the girls being covered now. And I really can't complain, it's less than $60/month for the 2 of them.
