  1. Watch over my Scooterman for me Marla. You will be dearly missed.
  2. You can, because if you email him directly, he's out of the country until mid next week I'd encourage emailing him anyway. He is a very kind man and even answered a few of my emails while in airports waiting for connecting flights. Sending more good thoughts Darcy's way. And more pictures please. She looks lovely.
  3. Darcy So glad she was able to come home so quickly, that will definitely speed up her recovery. It sounds like Darcy is planning on getting better real soon too!
  4. I'm so sorry. We will be sending many healing thoughts Darcy's way.

  6. Aimee, I certainly know that feeling. I'm just so sorry that this is happening so soon after what you have already been through. I am so sorry. We are keeping Marla and you in our prayers.
  7. The day after his eye surgery he started limping badly. He'd been diagnosed with CES earlier in the year and at the time we treated it as a flare up of the condition because he would be fine for one day and then semi limping the next and then fine for a week and then bad again for a day or two. It's fluctuated quite a bit. It wasn't until week before last that he suddenly took a dramatic turn and was having a lot of troubles. We finally decided to do xrays...and now here we are. He'll be 9 October 16th Pain management. Amputation is not an option for Scooter due to the weakness in his hips due to CES also known as LS. Chemo is an option but the negatives involved dont out weigh the positives and I am not going to make Scooter miserable during the last of his life with me. I do too. Lord knows I do. Do you really think you needed to add that side note?! I didn't want people to get the impression that I would be dragging Scooter all over Dewey Beach. thank you He's not interested in his stuffies any more but he is frisky with his marrow bones and likes to toss them around. It certainly does a number on our wood floors. Right now his spirit is still very good.
  8. Nor for myself either. Please can come visit.
  9. IF Scooter and I attend Dewey, Scooter would not be leaving the condo. That is out of the question. He would be parked on the couch the entire time, there will be no activity outside the condo for him. The cart is a good idea though.
  10. No, not this year. Besides, he didn't seem to like it last year anyway.
  11. Perhaps I should add a side note here: I am taking everything into consideration in the event I do go to Dewey. I will not be doing anything to endanger Scooter's well being.
  12. I wanted to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers for Scooter. I am certainly not alone in going through this with him and I am grateful to be surround by such kindness. I wanted to update everyone on his well being..... right now Scooter is in good spirits and seems to be relatively painfree with the meds he is taking. He has spark in his eyes and he still has his appetite. He tires easily, as can be expected. He has significant swelling in his leg so we are keeping that massaged and elevated to help him to be more comfortable. Thankfully it's not to extreme at the moment. I did contact Dr. Couto in Ohio and he was kind enough to reply to me about some other treatment options availible for this type of cancer and the location that it's in. However, Scooter is not a candidate for amputation and chemo (for the amount of time it prolongs) is not something I am willing to put Scooter through. So I am spending the rest of time I have with him making him as comfortable as possible. ***Dewey is still being decided on. I've been offered an overwhelming amount of help with Scooter should we decide to come. This will be the last Dewey for him and possibly the last for me as well....at least for the time being. I want to do right by Scooter so it will be a gam time decision as to whether we show up or not. So that's where we are for the moment. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers. They are a huge comfort to me and Scooter during this time. xoxo- Jennifer & Scooterman
  13. Hi everyone. Sorry to just drop off on you last night and today but it's been a crazy 24 hours as you all can well imagine. I am at home today with Scooter and he is resting well. His leg is VERY swollen. He seems to be in good spirits but you can tell he knows he's sick. I've emailed Dr. C to see if he has any thoughts or suggestions on the situation. Thank you all for everything. I am certainly not alone while going through this and that is a great comfort. I'll update more soon.
  14. I know word has been spreading like wild fire so I will confirm it now. Yes. The xrays show that Scooter has cancer. My mind is still trying to wrap around the concept that it's actually happening. No matter how much we prepare ourselves in our minds knowing that our Greys will likely leave us due to this disease, it doesn't cushion the blow when you hear the words that it's your hound that is effected. It seems especially harsh since we are here a month after the eye surgery. Thank you all for all of your thoughts and prayers. There are no words to express how grateful I am for all of them. I know Scooter is just one of many hounds going through health difficulties right now. All of the hounds here on GreyTalk are truly blessed to have such wonderful people looking after them.
  15. Amen to that. Thank you all for your kind words. We will be leaving for the vet shortly. He'll be spending the day there. Hopefully when I pick him up this afternoon we will have some better information to work with. Thanks again everyone.
  16. Thank you everyone. I truly appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. I'm on the brink of sanity and trying not to jump the gun on anything. This could still be an injury that has taken on a more painful position for him. It would be so bitterly unfair to have him come through his eye scare just to turn around and have something terrible happen. And as of right now, I'm still hopeful to bring him to Dewey, obviously we'll see what happens after xrays are done. Scooter was his racing name. D's Scooter Clickie
  17. Scooter has taken a dramatic turn and is worse this morning. He's not walking on the right leg at all, he's significantly stiffer in entire hind end area. He fell down the last 5 steps coming out of my room this morning and well.....he's worse than I have ever seen him. We have an appointment tomorrow morning. Xrays will be done.
  18. Sending out lots and lots of prayers for Freddie
  19. Yes, Scooter will be coming to Dewey. He'll probably only be attending the Pirates of the Beach event at the Bottle & Cork. The rest of the time I think he will be lounging on the sofa of his choice. Thank you all for your good thoughts.
