  1. Just went through this with my Max, it was diagnosed in March by our regular vet after I noticed him squinting. They put him on antibiotic eye drops and metacam for pain for 10 days then re-check, it was still there though no infection so she did a soft de-briding of cornea w/local anesthesia in eye. More antibiotic eye drops, Metacam and re-check 2 weeks later. It was not healed so... we were referred to an Opthamologist and he did a Keratotomy(full scraping of cornea) under pain meds and local to eye and left w/more antibiotic eye drops, Tramadol and the "Cone of shame" for 2 weeks!! It finally is healed :) and Doc said that this is the most common eye injury he sees in older dogs and they almost always need a Keratotomy to heal them.

  2. Looks like I am in the same boat, just switched from Candidae to Blue Buffalo and the gas is bad but.... Max is also just had Eye surgery(Keratotomy) and on meds so kind of waiting to see how it plays out when meds are out of system! So many changes, hard to determine what is what @ this point.

  3. Yes, it's very very painful to lose a family member. And no matter how long they're with us, it's never long enough. She's pain free now; you gave her the best gift of all. But she's always with you in your heart. :grouphug

Thanks Jan, I think we met you @ Dewey a couple years ago, Ben has a striking resemblance to Sara, very few Greys have that color Brindle. She is in my heart and comes everywhere w/me. I just read your Blog that you posted about your journey w/Bailey and your choice to adopt again after her death, it brought more tears but I know that is what I will also do in the future , it is the best way to honor her.

  4. Thank you everyone for your kind words, I am missing Sara so very much, I am trying to hold onto the happy memories of my sweet girl, running to greet me with one of her stuffies @ the door, or standing in the back of the van w/her "bat ears" smiling @ me and whining " are we there yet mommy". I picked up her ashes last week and had to relive the last time I was there :cry1 :cry1 and could not just run out as I had Max w/me for an eye problem he has that is slow to heal. My vets are so sweet that they were hugging me and stayed w/me till I was ok to drive. They had an imprint of her paw done and along w/her ashes, cards, I have made a shrine just below a portrait that Kent Roberts did a couple years ago of her and Max. I have many pics of her and will share some when I can. I have lost many kitties over the years and grieved over their loss but Sara is my 1st Greyhound that passed, I feel that things may never be the same again.
