  1. Would putting the fish in a crock pot help out with daily preparation? It might help you having it constantly ready & give you extra time out of the kitchen??

Don't know if he's "allowed" to eat a whole fish.

He doesn't like it when its mushy. He likes it in whole pieces. He is a PITA when it comes to eating.

I know I should be thrilled about him not losing any more weight and I am. But this is starting to get to me.

I am having issues with my son too.

So, I am just a bit tired of the whole thing.

I was thinking about possibly putting just the fillets in, not the whole fish. How about wrapping the fillets in foil & putting the crockpot on low. You could rotate them in & out as you use them. They would be constantly cooking & ready. Stand them up like when they steam tamales. I don't think they would turn to mush that way. Might be worth a try. :)

  2. How are the Cushings symptoms lately? You still may not get the perfect results yet....if not, you just keep increasing the meds until you do. Patience grasshopper..... :)

She's not drinking as much water but she's famished all the time. Which reminds me, I made the cookies again yesterday :lol

It's not that I'm losing patience, but I'm just concerned about how often she'll need the Lysodren. We're already at 3x a week. Carol, that drug has to be tough on her system

I'm glad that you're using that heated appliance in your kitchen.... :lol I'm sure that Misty appreciates it! Nevada had to take Lysodren three times a week during the first year to get her regulated. It's not unusual. Especially since you are increasing very slowly. The decrease water intake is good. The increased appetite is still a symptom, but for Misty it might be a good thing right now. Better than not eating. I agree totally that the drug is tough on them.....but I think that it gives them a better quality of life vs. being miserable with the cushings symptoms. Soon you will see the old Misty return. :colgate

  3. Bummer on the results. Misty has often been in my thoughts.

Although I am a fan of Trilostane, I have to agree with staying with the Lysodren as long as you are making progress.

Your vet has the right approach with increasing frequency not dosage and you have enough experinece to spot early signs of a possible crash.

Gentle hugs to Misty and lots of good vibes from chilly Quebec

    Pam

We're just not ready to give up on the Lysodren yet. Misty's test results did come back a "little" better so we're on the right track but just not there yet.

Thank you Pam, I know there are a few people here who think I'm foolish for not insisting that we switch to the Trilostane but I believe that it would be the same situation we're having with the Lysodren.

Claudia- There is always going to be differing opinions on what treatment is correct. What you have to remember is that she is your pup, you know her better than anyone & you know what is the right thing to do for the both of you. I always appreciate the input......but the buck stops with you. Do what's right in your heart & you will never regret it. :)

  4. How confident are you in this Vet? Is it time for a second opinion?

Demas is at a specialty hospital where he was referred by his primary vet. Its set up much like a human hospital. He has one doctor who is coordinating everything but he's been seen by and I've met with an endocrinologist, two neurologists, an oncologist, a surgeon, and several others that I can't recall what they were specifically. I know his records have even been sent out to a few out of state specialists for their opinions. So, yes - I feel pretty confident in these doctors. They are even willing to contact a greyhound specialist I mentioned. They appear to be doing everything they can think of. I brought him back to the hospital this morning so he and his charts could be reviewed by a couple other doctors to see what they thought. They are all as frustrated as I am.

Sounds like he's in the right place. I hope things get resolved quickly & he gets pain free.

  5. :weep :weep :weep

Tom, I am so terribly sorry. Ember was an amazing fighter, and inspiration to all of us here. I have followed her good days and bad days,

And her Mickey D's days

there is still money on the gift card she got in a seekrit santa gift. i was saving it for the final rounds of chemo :weep :weep :weep

What I find that really helps is to do good deeds in their name. Take that card & do a good deed for another special hound that needs it. :grouphug
