  10. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how devastating it is, when you've got what seems to be a bullet-proof pup, to realize that THIS is the one he's not going to beat. My heart goes out to you and your family. That picture is wonderful! Hold him in your heart.
  11. Glenn, I'm sorry for your loss. Grieving is different for everyone. When DH and I would cry (and sometimes still do!) over our pup who passed, we always knew it meant that he was loved so strongly, and we appreciated the tears even as we let them go.
  12. I'm so sorry for your sudden loss...Run free, Star.

  14. We had to drive to the University of Minnesota to pick up Butkus' ashes. I was happy to be going to get him, but when I actually picked up the tin, I did choke up. It sounds morbid, but it was very funny....They use a standard-size tin, and they had to include an extra baggy for Butkus. We always joke that it's because of his big d*mn head. It just makes us laugh and remember how goofy that big old head was. After we picked him up, we stayed to talk with the researcher for about 45 minutes about the autopsy and the study in general, and that was so comforting, to know how much good Butkus was doing even after he died. ETA: DH and I went together. I don't think I would have wanted to go alone, but I don't think I wouldn't have wanted to not go myself, either.

  18. Gia has a forked tongue. It is definitely not natural, it's the end result of a very scary night involving an (apparently) very tasty knife!
