  1. No advice, just for Chevy. Poor guy's been through enough.
  2. I'm so sorry, you did everything you could, such a wonderful greyhound mom. My heart aches for you.
  3. Lucy, what a beautiful loving tribute to Jabari. Although he's gone he will always be in your heart and the hearts of many here on GT. Rest well sweet Jabari, you will be missed by many.
  4. My thoughts are with you and Plummer...sometimes the least selfish things are the most loving, no matter how much it hurts.
  5. We are going to GIG this year and I'm wondering if ticks remain a problem in PA. Did the cold winter reduce their numbers or do they still remain a problem there? Secondly, does everyone test their pups for heartworm each year? I imagine your answer may depend on how prevelant they are in your area. We use Revolution for 6 months of the year from May - Nov, and I don't have an issue with this, I'm just wondering if yearly testing is necessary. Do you have a preference, e.g. Interceptor vs Revolution? I'm considering ordering Revolution from petmeds in Australia since it is about 1/2 the price I pay at my vet's office. TIA Jan
  6. I so hope they find out what's wrong and treat him. He's such a handsome sweetheart.
  7. I've not experienced that with any of our greys. Brooke gets bald in the neck and chest area when the weather warms up but it grows back in the fall. For some reason I thought you were talking about her fur thinning. Now that I have reread your post, it would think she may be less muscular as she gets older and that's what you may be noticing. Bailey never lost much muscle but she loved to run, while Brooke was never as muscular, I think she has lost some but I'm not sure if I would consider her thinner.
  8. I'm so sorry for your loss. Even though you weren't there, he knew how much you loved him.
  9. Poor Kebo. Will the vet leave the roots now or will Kebo need more surgery?
  10. I'm so sorry this happened to you and Leah. I hope she feels better and heals quickly.
  11. I am so so sorry you had to say goodbye to Bunny too. I'm sure you gave her the best retirement life possible.
  12. We have two pups and Brooke is a chow hound while Ben prefers to take his time. Brooke has been taught that she cannot touch Ben's dish until he walks away from it. However, there are times when he doesn't want to eat his food, so he has only a couple of minutes to start eating it. If hfe has not touched it by the time Brooke is finished, it gets picked up. He is given another opportunity at lunch and if he doesn't want it then, he waits until dinner (btw fresh food). It's rare that he will actually wait until dinner, but he has. He will eat when he's hungry. Dogs will not starve themselves and she will quickly learn that free feeding is over.
  13. Welcome from Waterloo in Canada
  14. there's a group that meets in St Jacob's but I've been there when only one other greyhound showed up and I've been there when 10 showed up so it can be hit and miss. Look up waterloo area greyhound group on fb. I think this would be a lot closer. They usually meet at 9:30am.
  15. Hoping for some good news here too. btw I adopted Glo's Destroyer, but not related.
  16. another good video http://smg.photobucket.com/user/LSophie/media/Videos/LAT_walks.mp4.html
  17. Remember the treats before the behaviour escalates so you are not rewarding Dudley for unwanted behaviour. Practice at home in a safe environment.
  18. I'm so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Walli.
  19. I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Jewell.
  20. hhhhhhmmmmmmm...that is odd...unless something happened prior to this meeting. Hopefully the video will help.
  21. Giselle has posted a "look at me" link to a video where she teaches a dog using treats to focus on her and not focus on the dog walking by. It sounds like it may be helpful in this situation. The trick is to get Dudley to focus on you before his behaviour escalates which is demonstrated really well in the video.
