  1. Dear Registrants,

Due to unexpected events, we must regrettably cancel the Greyhound Health & Wellness Conference on April 20, 2013.You will be notified if the conference is rescheduled at a later date.

A full refund of your registration fee will be issued. Individuals who paid online will be issued refunds to their credit card within three business days and will receive a receipt by email. Individuals who paid by phone/fax must contact the CE office at (614) 292-8727 as soon as possible to be issued a refund. Individuals who paid by check will be contacted separately by our Business Center as those refunds involve a more complex university process.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we thank you for your support of the Greyhound Health & Wellness program at Ohio State.

    Sincerely,

  2. You might want to have a consult with Dr Dyce at Ohio State University. He is the head of orthopedic surgery. He might know of a new surgery that will help with the problem. You might start with emailing Dr Kellogg with the Greyhound Health and Wellness Prgram at OSU. The program is working with a couple of racetracks bringing the more severely injuried greyhounds to OSU for surgery.

My greyhound now has a prostetic leg because she is missing a foot. Maybe your greyhound could use a protective brace to prevent injury once he is back together. I really do not know, just an idea.

  3. You can cut off the bottom ribbing on an old t-shirt and tie it around him to hold the new t-shirt in place. We had one with a huge wound on him from a dog fight. He had t-shirts and coats on him so he couldn't get to the wound. I think I wrapped a beach towel on top of the coat. He just sat there. It was too much trouble to try and move.

  4. That's what I would have done. It would be too late on Wednesday to close it anyhow. Keep him from licking it and making it bigger. Put ointment on it. You might consider putting a t-shirt on him to keep him away from the wound. Just know this is the first of many, he's a greyhound

  5. We used the Top Paw Natural Oatmeal Shampoo. It is not a flea shampoo so does not have any of the flea chemicals in it. We would also use shots of the Adams Flea and Tick Mist to kill the fleas already there. Just a short direct spray right on the fleas. Then we would take a flea comb and comb them out. The flea comb also combs out the flea dirt. We would also lightly spray her bed, rugs and furniture.

I would think any Natural oatmeal shampoo would be fine.

  6. It's a "Greyhound Thing".

This is a good website for new (and old) greyhound owners to bookmark. Grassmere Animal Hospital in Nashvillel TN has a greyt section on greyhounds on their website. New greyhound owners should beware of the "Happy Tail". Also the "Scream Of Death" or "SOD". One experience and you will never be the same.

  7. that's pretty cool. Can you get a sense from her about what she feels? Does she come looking for it in the morning? Does she like it off in the evening? How did she first take to it?

I think she likes her prosthetic. She doesn't fall as much now. She balances better when she potties. She looks for her "foot" when I get the lead out for a walk. Sometimes when I take it off, she looks at me as if to say "what are you doing".
